Hilux Single Cab Conversion~Echonomical?

Recommended Posts

I recently saw a Toyota Hilux (Full option) single cab 'converted' to a double cab.

From what I can say, they have done a superb job.

It's almost like a smart cab with two doors. Back-seats are very comfortable. The roof is a bit strange but can be fixed.

Is this more economical than buying a smart cab (not a double cab)? I think it takes about 600000 for the job.

Is this legal? (considering that Police Tata Single cabs are 'converted' to 10 seaters!)

Do you need a dual purpose registration for this? (are there ones without this registration?)

I Don't think it is really worthy, but there were people who bought the single cab before the Vigo arrived,so for those people it would be worthy. In a few places in delkada the Vigo body is available,it will costs around 1M for everything including all the costs (thats what they said). But now don't think it'll be useful. When my father bought his Hilux the Double cab was around 10M and the single around 2.6M (not sure). But now they are damn cheap. And all the cabs including single comes with the Dual purpose registration

Seen a few of those converts including one last week while getting some new tires. They used one f those carryboy canopy and I believe catalloy paste to make it look stock. the paint was peeling at the joints due to obvious reasons. Since the canopy does not have any support at the roof, good luck in a crash. The scariest thing about the one I say last week is that the owner had a child seat hooked up at the back. He's either really stupid or just discovered the perfect way to kill his kid.

I'm sure this'll work as long as you keep the vehicle, but this modification will surely scare off potential buyers, and this will also certainly affect the integrity of the vehicle as the bodywork has been fiddled with..

as Cyrax said, i'd be a better option, safe and worthwhile investment to replace the entire body,

but that too must be properly done..

JD I think your talking about removing the rear panel and fixing a canopy with a few seats right ?

Well it is not safe at all,as the rear pannel is completely removed off,it will have a adverse effect on the overall strenght of the Cab.And as tiv pointed out, buyers would normally keep out of these vehicles, unless you sell it very much below the market value
