Bikes And Quads

Ok guys got 2 questions for you seeing as I’m still getting to grips with the local laws and stuff

.

firstly can I import a road legal quad bike (atv)?

they are allowed in the uk as long as they have the usual lights, indicators, horn etc but are they allowed here?

Secondly, is it true that you can’t import a bike with an engine larger than 250cc?

Would I be breaking the law if I bought a 250cc Yamaha locally then imported and fitted a 1000cc R1 engine?

afaik....at the moment....you cant register atv's or quads as road legal. no license category or even a registration category for them.

many people use them in private properties though.

as for bikes...there are plenty large displacement bikes running about with falsified docs. most are registered as 250's.

So i don't think you can legally ride anything over 250 on public roads.

The Poms might drive ya mad but ya gotta luv the way ya can drive a quad on the roads in the UK. There I was at the lights at Clapham Common and there he was beside me, four big wheels, a plethora of metal tubing, a rumbling engine, a crash helmet, a "whoof' and he was gone into the far distance! Lovely grub!

AND you can ride them on a car licence

Find it a bit strange that you can’t here in lanka. Those 2 wheeled tractor things have number plates!

In the US I used to ride my friends Yamaha and Honda ATVs , big ones, one the roads, but here, that size is a very RARE find, still looking 4 one.
