Motocross/scrambler/trail/dirt Bike

Right guys I’m currently on the hunt for a motocross bike.

Searched the internet and not found what I’m looking for this side of Colombo (I’m in Galle)

so I’m down to word of mouth....problem is when trying to tell people what I’m looking for I’m using the words "motocross/scrambler/trail/dirt bike" and people just look at me like I’ve just asked them if I can borrow their wife!

I’m putting this down to lanka calling these type of bikes a different name as I’ve seen a fair few riding down the road but I haven’t been able to catch up with one in my truck yet to ask the rider so my question is what do you guys call them??

Picture just incase your reading this and thinking what on earth is this guy on about.

and if anyone knows anyone down this way whos selling one please do let me know! not looking for a new bike, preferably something quite old that i can just strip and rebuild.

those are generally called "trailer bikes" or trail bikes in SL

I have two myself both street trails though...honda mtx200 and honda xr250

If you're looking for a motocross bike... a CR, CRF or similar from another brand is the way to go. And some folks in SL call them "thoroughbreds" since its more competition oriented.

as for hunting one... newspaper classifieds might be your first starting point.

there are few classified sites that have loads of bike listings...might wanna check that too
