Black Smoke + Carbon From Exhaust + Overdue Service

One of My friend's FB14 has done 6400km without an oil/filter change :speechless-smiley-004:

he has noticed recently that when he starts the car after being parked for several hours the black smoke is visible with a smell of unburnt gasoline, it goes after around 1 minute and then there isn't any black smoke but when you keep the hand near the exhaust you can see carbon forming with water. Now the guy is rushing for an oil change and wondering the symptoms I mentioned above is something serious caused by his negligence :action-smiley-015:

Any ideas guys?

He may have also neglected to change the air filter, which maybe be clogged. Doubt it could be anything very serious, would be good if he gets a tune up done in the process...

running 6400km without an oil change is not advised but that can't be the reason for your friends predicament.

Black smoke means, unburnt fuel...

Not really familiar with that model but if it's EFI, you gotta check up the whole system and see what's wrong with it.

Start with simple things like the air filter, sparks and if nothing is wrong with them...you gotta check the others as well. ie. delco, ignition wires etc etc

Once my car was running very poorly with black smoke and the garage bugger couldn't find the problem. I finally tracked it down to faulty knock sensor wiring. Simple the connector pin had come off. Put it back on and everything was perfect!
