Difference Between Honda Fit Area & City (Gd 8)

both cars are more or less the same.but fit area is the JDM model while city is the export version made in thailand or india.in city, leather interior, CD player etc.. came as standard. the thailand version was mostly exported to singapore and herein sri lanka has both brand new and recnditioned singaporian vehicles. their build quality is nearly equal to JDM version. but the indian one is crap.

why fit area is expensive is because its JDM vehicle.But if price is lower i think thailand made city brand new is a better buy.

And IMHO a 2003ish cvt equipped Jazz/Fit is probably best avoided as a purchase with it's age and it's potential for tranny problems.......Thai build quality not up to Japanese product...Thai factory very labour intensive compared to Japan and it shows. Great little cars though, just not at that age.

Anyone knows the difference between GD6 and GD8 ? Im planning for a Fit Aria GD8

GD6 = 1.3

Trim level : 1.3A A was the entry level grade.

The GD6 was dropped with the facelift in 2005. So if you get a GD6 it is a prefacelift model that was manufactured between 2002 and 2005.

GD8 = 1.5

Trim level

Pre-facelift

1.5W highest grade so had a lot of accessories/features and the interior had nicer materials.

Facelift:

1.5A, 1.5C, 1.5W

1.5C was the lowest grade, 1.5A a mid grade, 1.5W highest grade.

They all came with CVT transmissions found in similar sized Hondas. Just like in other Hondas that had the same CVT, the chances of the CVT going bad was a gamble (please understand that all Japanese manufacturers had trouble with their CVTs during this time...it was new technology for all of them).

So make sure that the vehicle has been properly maintained..which includes proper maintenance and repair (if done) of the CVT.

Generally it is a decent car. My aunt has had one for 10 years now and she doesn't want to get rid of it. She is not very diligent about maintenance and doesn't do anything other than the recommended service at stated intervals and taking care of fixing the usual like changing belts and brake pads. The car still runs without any hitches and is quite robust. Much nicer to drive and more refined than the equivalent Toyotas and Nissans.

Just make sure that you take it for a professional inspection before buying it (just like you would any car).
