Need To Buy A Car For 1 Million + Good Fuel Consumption

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I have a Mitsubishi Lancer C62A (ASP Model 1991 year). It has a 1500cc engine and does nearly 8-9km/ltr in city and sometimes less. I'm planning to sell this car and go for another. My budget is 1 million (or max 1.1 million) and should be very economical (since I'm always travelling).

I need your help to find a good vehicle for my budget and with good fuel consumption. Please share your experience...

I prefer Sedan, my current vehicle is 17-xxxx so I would like to go beyond it :). I was thinking about Kia Rio and Hyundai Accent but people say that Korean vehicles are not good and the second hand market also not good.

I can go for 1.1million.

Bull-Shit.. Compared to Japanese cars, Korean cars are relatively not that good but. the Accent is not a bad car at all.

it wont be a reliable and solid as a Japanese or fun to drive as a euro but it has its good points.

  • The Hyundai accent is a good all rounder for your needs. it does 10+ on fuel
  • both the KIA Rio and the accent have strong market value these days since both the cars are reasonably priced.
  • Spares are freely available for both of them as well.

downside on both the cars are

  • The interior build quality is a bit low
  • and the leg space and all is nothing to brag about.

Other cars i would suggest that will meet your needs are:

  • Proton Wira
  • Ford Laser BG series
  • Mazda Familia 323 BG series
  • Nissan Presea - fuel consumption will be around 8-10kmpl

go for a Honda eg 8 .or Toyota corolla AE100 (if you are lucky.you can find it in your budget)

I was thinking about EG8 and AE100. But I have few doubts,

* I don't think that it will be easy for me to find a Honda EG8 or AE100 for my budget. I had a small research and both are going above 1.2-1.3m.

* I'm not sure the fuel consumption of Honda EG8 since it has a heavy body and car is too long (I don't have a big space here at my home and you guys wont believe how I park my Mitsubishi C62A - ASP Model).

Thanks for the reply mate. I also heard that Proton vehicles are worse than Kia Rio and Accent. I also know about Presea (one of my cousins used few years ago) and it does only few Kms per liter.

What about Mitsubishi Lancer CK1 (thinking about a lease as well). How many KMs does per liter? I love that car.

not really.

the wira, the engine and most of the parts are shared with the Mitsubishi lancer CB series and the car is pretty damn reliable. last time we visited malaysia, we hired one there and went from Kuala lumpur to Therenganu and kelantan vice versa. a trip over 1000km and the car didn't give out at least once. didn't over heat or anything.

the problem is, in Sri Lanka, people haven't maintain the wira's properly.

about the lancer CK1,

go for a manual. it does around 11-12kmpl with careful driving, though its a 1.3ltr, the pulling power is not that bad.

Machan Eg (5th gen civics) are Hondas one of the earlier models to use light weight stuff and weights around 1000kg. Its a sub compact sedan, so not that lengthy. Does around 12 with spirited driving. Major issue with it is, its really hard to find a non rapped one.

  • 2 weeks later...

Thanks guys for your support. I'm planning to go for a Rio or Accent (1st priority for Accent). If you have one of those please let me know the fuel consumption and the maintenance of it. What about long drive (hill) and spare parts? I will be using it at least for 2 years.
