Suzuki Swift Transmission Problem

Question

Posted

Guys I'm having problems with a 04 swift , it has developed Problem in down shifting . Whenever it needs to down shift specially from 4th to 3rd and 3rd to 2nd it takes a long time and the engine revs to the max before it finally changes , and I started getting a an intermittent check engine indication. Showed the car to many mechanics but no luck so far . I'm thinking of taking it to the dealers for a check up, but any advise y'all can provide regarding this is highly appriciated. Cheers

well they have taken the car for a trans oil change , and the EXPERT who did it has only changed the oil and not the filter , saying there's no requirement to change the filter , the car has about 90000 km on it and i think this is the first time the oil was changed. im not in the country at the moment so cant do much about it. i think trans oil and filter should be changed evry 40000 or so...do u think changing filter might help this.... appreciate ur opinion.

Do u change the oil in the engine with out changing the filter? what happens to the oil when you don't change the filter? it gets dirty straight away. Its like having a shower with dirty underwear :) . Ofcourse the filter makes the difference. It exists for a reason. Give it to some one who knows how to service a transmission and not to some gama kana bass. God knows if he even changed the oil by what your saying. It has 90,000kms and that's what you think. Most cars I say almost every cars odo has been tampered with in this country. So don't smile thinking its done only 90,000. It would have most probably done more so servicing at regular intervals a VERY MUST. If you do this Service properly which will Include the right oil and a good branded filter your problem would be sorted for sure. Good luck.

Is your swift a beetle shape or the box looking thing? If its the Beetle shape then the gear box would be a CVT if I am correct. These boxes need servicing atleast every 20,000kms to keep it in tip top shape.

Try not to drive much or not at all till u get this done. Good luck. I am sure this will sort it as long as it hasnt done internal damages. Thats why i mentioned to keep driving to a minimum or non at all till serviced by an auto transmission specialist. Keep us posted.
