Need Your Advice On Procedures Of Importing A Car From Australia

Hi,

One of my friends in Australia wants to send a used car, (Probably a unique car make to Australia like Holden) to Sri lanka for his personal use. What kind of import procedures exist in Sri Lanka now and is it really possible to import from AUstralia under the current regulations and register that in Sri Lanka? And what kind of tax will come under this? Please enlighten us with your ideas.

Its the same procedure as importing from Japan or any other country. The tax might be more as the engine capacity in most holdens are quite big. Also keep in mind the year restrictions. I am sure someone in the forum will enlighten us on that. Lots of Aussie cars here already but hardly have a market here and the availability of spares is almost nil. Good luck.
