You are trying to compare two different things here.

S-VT (Sequential Valve Timing) is a variable valve timing technology developed my Mazda similar to VTEC by Honda or VVT by Toyota. It’s not a transmission mechanism.

And,

Cvt or (Continuously Variable Transmission) is actually a transmission mechanism that can change seamlessly through an infinite number of effective gear ratios between maximum and minimum values.

In laymen terms; you are trying to compare an “Engine” with a “Gear box”. Therefore, it's difficult to conclude which one is better.

Thank you!

So I have a mazda demio and I want to figure out the transmission type, Last demio i used was on CVT and pick up was very good. But I feel a difference in the new one. Could you let me know how I can check this?

To which generation does your current car belongs to? 1st Gen (1996–2002), 2nd Gen(2002–2007) or 3rd Gen (2007 to Present) ?
