FYI, I use a 2001 Super Saloon with Automatic transmission.

Here are the differences in the Super Saloon compared to the Ex Saloon.

1600cc vs 1500cc engine

Airbags for both Driver and passenger vs Driver only airbag

Rear head rests plus center hand rest

Variable intermittent vipers

Vanity mirror in the sun shades

2 Map reading lights

Body colored bumper trim and outer door trim vs black trims (2002 up body colored)

Chrome door handles vs black or body colored (2002 up)

Fuel economy varies between 8-13 at the moment.

There arent any expensive issues related to this car. I can't comment on the fuel economy of the 1.5l Ex saloon, but N16 is a heavy car, so you need every bit of oomph you can get, personally I wouldn't skimp on safety features such as dual airbags for a bit of fuel economy.

If you need to know anything I would be glad to help.

can we get 10 - 12 kmpl in colombo with careful driving super saloon 1.6 manual engine ?

and someone says the suspensions are faulty specially lower arm bush is that correct?, spare parts are rear or expensive?

what about n17 super saloon 1.6 manual or automatic gearbox ?

You may get 10 with a manual transmission if you are very careful with the throttle. But you can't pay attention to your throttle as if there aren't any more distractions already on the road when you are driving in Colombo. In short machan, N16 isn't the car for you if you are after fuel economy.

Spare parts are not rare or expensive, the lower arm bushes tend to give up earlier than other cars, but if you are using good quality replacement parts it will hold longer. Again, this replacement is not that expensive. It will cost you under 5000 bucks.

FYI I replaced lower arm bushes in my car about 15,000km ago and it's still holding

I have no idea about the N17, but basically it's the same car underneath. There are some subtle changes in the engines 2003 upwards (if my memory serves me right), like a different EGR valve.

BTW I'm not sure whether the N17 is made in Japan or not.

N17's referred here in SL are really N16's

Yes, the blokes here are really good at making names, it's just the facelifted version of the N16

N16 is one of the worst cars ever by nissan ....fuel only works like 6-7 honestly in automatic....very bad pickup and well for that price range FB15 wuld b the best car..... Dont go for the N16 when u've got many better alternatives

Suspension isn't exactly faulty, it's just not designed for sl bumpy roads. Springs are very soft so you get a comfy ride but that means all the joints, bushes move around than they were designed so yes they tend to wear out soon. You don't need to replace the arms, just rebushing will do.
