This is scary...

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Check Forbes Article Here

The possibility of a tri-continental auto alliance that would command nearly one-quarter of the global market share emerged last week after Kirk Kerkorian--who holds 9.9% of GM's shares--said he had approached car czar Carlos Ghosn--the CEO of both Renault and Nissan--about considering adding General Motors to the existing Renault-Nissan alliance.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

is this gonna see the ultimate of platform sharing era, which a defined shape of auto industry as we know it today?

will this stetch the Nissan-Renault(Ghosn) empire to it's limits?

how will toyota respond?

This seems like a approach for GM to earn some profit. GM is not doing well overall.

Yes I agree!

as i see it common objective is PLATFORM SHARING --> reduce costs + premium platforms(better quality output)

and of course GM wants the Ghosn magic to be casted on them too...

if this goes ahead the only 1 to look out would be Ford, ford despite it troubles has a history of snatching victory from the jaws of defeat, i have read a forbes article stating that during the 50's or so, ford had been in deep deep shit and a new model had suddenly saved the company and enabled it to flourish!
