With the iOS 12, we can use Google Maps in Apple CarPlay. I tested it today and it works really well. If you have an iPhone 5S or above you can upgrade the iOS version 12. Then installed the latest version of the Google Maps. Connect the phone to the car infortainment system via apple lightning cable. Now you can see the Google Maps icon in CarPlay
