OK, some new stuff there, as to this, I think, and I need some confirmation on this, 4 are on the top and 4 are on the side. Cant see the side ones coz its behind the engine right and I haven't really looked for them, but they are there. 330cc is from a site somewhere, so it should be that unless someone played around with it before I got the car. Haven't checked it out to tell ya a color. Madmax should know, Ado, say something u b!

BTW, Porks, was talking to someone else about this too. Guy says that it should cost less and be less risky to get a GTiR/Silvia SR20DET and drop it in, rather than turboing the existing engine, as its a direct fit, and that should be 250hp directly. Specially cheaper as the piping will cost a lot. Watcha think?

And boys, knock it off with the pics. It is detracting the value of this thread.

Hi Pravin,

Your injectors are 333cc injectors and I want to know why there are 4 behind, from what I know in my research there are only 4, will have to crawl under it to see if there is another 4. To run 2 injectors per cylinder at 330cc will cause an overly rich mix as they will be low pulsing at 666cc per stroke which is the type of ccs a big turbo car runs like the Skyline GTS-T (Nismo 555 ccs).

The SR20DET engines are different in the sense of RWD and AWD so basically an RWD engine won't work but a FWD SR20DET can be mated to your exisitng gearbox. Secondly the piping doesn't cost a lot I can import then all day long for cheap and I am talking about aircraft grade aluminum. Also it seems everybody only wants to do engine swaps....bunk I say that is the easy way out....why waste a perfectly nice SR16VE?

An SR16VE can be safely boosted to around 8psi to push beyond that we have to reduce the stock engine compression as it runs a little on the high side something like 11:1. Running low boost we should be able to easily push 260+ at the wheel so ud be actually running close to 290 at the crank.

Cheers, Porky

I am being told that the Silvia SR20 should be a straight fit to my gearbox and that will allow me to use the motor with my existing tranny. But I do agree about wasting my SR16 :D And if I cant use my box, it would mean wasting my LSD (those who know say I have one :D )

Been doing some research (which is difficult these days. Why this convo couldn't happen on those long jobless days .... but I digress.) Enough stuff to make ur head spin. And mine is spinning!

lets see if i can this down properly.......... well the n1 was a very well built vzr, that i beleive (not too sure) was built to pay homage to the n1 series of races in japan, it came with a 1.6 liter motor thatmade 197 (engine hp) i have no proof of the actuall whp, but it is a much better built motor than the standar sr16ve,

1. cams are better more lift and duration, 220 low lobe duratio, and 288 high lobe duration( and these cams are quoted at 1000us for the pair at nismo jap, and 500 for the springs and retainers)

2. the intake manifold is desingned differently, larger throttle body(70mm as opposed to 62 mm) i will post pics of the differences as it pertains to these two) and the plenum is a little larger, it is alos a shorterrunner design, and has 8 injector ports( yup the n1 motor used eight injectors Eyebrows)

3. from whati understand the head is exactly the same, inerms of the intake and exhaust ports.

4. i beileiv the n1 comes with higher compression 11.8.1( not certain though)

it has a better oil pump and larger pulleys. ( also the ecu is alot diiferent too)

these are a few things i can think of, of the top of my head, but i am certain there is more, it is a nice motor, but you may be able to buuild a sr16ve to be capable of same performance.

This is off wheelsjamaica

then there is this

and this

Now I need to go home and pop a couple of panadols. Unfortunately I am stuck in office till 8, when the relief comes in... :action-smiley-060:

So Porky,

The guy at Staffords are very negative about having irrdium spark plugs and they said there are many instance where people came and change it back to original plugs...

lmao... ma cars never seen the colour of an agent.. bah.. probably some marketing strategy by those dudes just to make ya to get their parts.. iridium plugs has effect only on certain engines though mainly those high-powered monster (what me heard that is), sticking to a relevantly good brand of spark plugs should do ya god.. also heard if ya forward the ignition timers and keep on pumping O93 Petrol you would see some "boost" lolz...

Yes you probably have an LSD tranny, don't see why not considering the performance on the engine. As Pila has said if you lift up both ur front wheel on jacks and start the car and they both spin then you have an LSD....or if it is RWD the back wheels. However a Silvia is RWD is yours also RWD? If not then the sr20 from a Silvia won't match upto your tranny you need a fwd sr20....since it came in both versions it won't be a problem and if you really want to o a swap badly, then I would recommend the balck top sr20 they have more hp than the red top.

But pls don't do the swap your engine is better than the sr20...trust me ....especially with the N1 goodies...only 500 built from what I know.

If they say it ha 8 injectors then it has 8 injectors, I will do some research to see how they pulse and the sequence. N1 stuff all comes from Nismo they have N1 stuff for Skylines also and some Silvia's like the Spec-R.

Cheers, Porky

The Iridiums aren't requird for your car yet I would stick with NGK Platinums.

Hey dude,

Yes as I thought, also the best VE engine out to date is the SR20VET with 280 hp. Comes on the Xtrail GT. So if a SR20VE can be made into a T no reason why we can't hope to take ur N1 engine and make it to a VE (T) also. I am sure with mild boost we can push 250hp+.

Lemme know when ur ready to do it bro.

N1 Engine should have domed pistons and very high compression.. you'd be cutting it very fine.

Hope this helps for all of you plans to get a cold air intake done. Specialy Isuru

hey tnx 4 da picz bro! unfortunately i cudnt get a cold air intake done as my battery location hinders any chance of getting the cone any further than where itz now. but i did dump a kn cone filter with civic eg8 intake manifold too... so any one wanting a exi intake manifold can take my old one!

yah but i wannad to get the intake manifold modded to a civic VTEC one's bcoz city VTEC come wit the non-vtec civic's manifold which is not suffiecient. so i got intake manifold + air filter both done at the same time.
