some details about R8

The R8's engine is a 4.2-liter FSI V8 that is good for 420 horsepower and 430 Nm (317 lb.-ft.) of torque. This engine provides a very flat and usable power band, and as far as the RS4 is concerned, gives the car more than enough power at any rpm.

The R8 tips the scales at a hefty 1,560 kg (3,439 lbs.)with 420 horses on tap, the R8 boasts an impressive power-to-weight ratio of 269 horsepower per ton. This generous power/weight ratio gives the R8 a 0-62 mph (0-100 km/h) time of 4.6 seconds, which isn't bad by anyone's standards. Should the R8 have a wide open road, drivers with brass balls can get it up to 187 miles per hour -- which Audi claims is "an unprecedented high for a road-going Audi".

Transmission choices are either a proper 6-speed manual or a "R-Tronic" shift-by-wire system.
