Hi guys, anybody knows about Honda ES3(2001) – RS gear stages (automatic). I mean on the gear lever it says “D,R,N” . What is “S and D” stands for?? S for Sports mode is it? Or Slow? Um a bit confused. When I put to S, the car goes in high Revs. Would like to hear some ideas of autolanka Honda experts’:)

bro S stands for sport..in sport mode its normal that car goes in high revs before it changes to the next gear...when you are just drving around town use D mode then the car would behave just like any other car with an auto box...but when your bottom is on fire you'll defineatly need it on sport mode....

ha haa haaa.... quite true... thax for the info ..!!!! machan do you all know at what rpm Vtec kicks in(in a ES3 RS auto)??? with the multimatic gear box you don't really feel the vtec sound.

The ES3 RS which has the D17A apparently doesn’t change cam profiles like the d15b vtecs found in the EG8 and EK3 thus u don’t really feel the VTEC kick in.

This is another reason it has a lower redline compared to the D15B and is made more for low end torque and fuel economy.

the RPM cut off in the Es is at around 6300 compared to about 7200 on the Ek's and EG civics. Also the ES RS is i-vtec which is not as wild as old school VTEC that you get in EGs, so you wouldnt feel the vtec kicking in that much..if i am not mistaken the ES is a LEV which would limit some performance.

nop .. i don't thinks so..it's not i-vtec. most of the ES s are LEV, but ES3 is not. and cut off is 6900. any expert opinion????
