Fuel Consumption Of Carina 212

Hi Guys,

I have a Carina 212, automatic. The car is in a good condition, recently the injectors are cleaned. But the car does not give more tan 7.5 km per litre in City. Is this correct, or some thing can be done.

Didn’t u change spark plugs? As well as u have to do Throttle body clean up. How your engine capacity? Didn’t u change auto gear oil recently?

check spark plugs, air filter and maybe a throttle body clean up too

a proper tuneup and toyota with an ECU reset might also help... But i don't think with an auto you'll get much more mpg than what you're getting now

Also check the oxygen sensors, they are the usual culprits for sudden drop of fuel consumption

True, Carina is a heavy car, 1.5L engine has to work hard if you are not soft on the gas pedal...

Thanks Guys,

I changed the Gear oil, but did not change the plugs or clean up the throttle body. I will get the oxygen sencers checked. What is ECU re set? Where can this be done

Take her to the agents to check the ECU & sensors since they have all the equipments. You may find so many other places to do a throttle body cleaning at a cheaper price than the agents. In addition, check the fuel filter also...

AT212 auto 1.5L

town 9 - 10 Km/L

outstation 13 -14km/L depending on how u drive

Manual would be better on fuel. Don't know exact figures though.

Do an engine tune up. U can check the plugs and see if they are clogged due to dust. what engine oil do u use? I would recomend fully synthetic.
