Help With Some Pics

hi guys im doing a presentation on tuesday about traffic Congestion in colombo .if anyone got any good ideas about a good opening or a closing Please let me know.And if there are any Pics that yall have about traffic or videos.even those Confusing road signs that there are because of the one way system wud evn be great.Please Help Thanks guys.Please help guys if u can

Thought of replying earlier then held back assuming somebody else will... nobody else did so here goes..

first of all...if ya doing a presentation you should be able to structure it and come up with ya own opening and closing and not expect folks here to give you a leg up cos they can't. You can never ever be a good presenter and make your case if you can't do your own ground work, research and pitch your case to your intended audience...

same goes for pics too... looks like either you were caught off guard or you're ill planned and lazy do this ya self...

just my 2 cents after being involved in many presentations and if i had some stuff i would've gladly shared it with you so i'm not trying to bash you up here

just some friendly dirt cheap advice

When I first read this i was like 'HUH'? its not a traffic block is the rarest thing in Sri Lanka. Just step out of your office with a camera and you should b able to get more than enough pictures.

As for a starting closing, like ripper saod.... dude thats REALLY NOT the way to go... so many factors you gotta think of. Imagine starting with a opening aimed at a group of corporate CEOs and ending aiming it at OLevel students. not good!

PS: if you hurry and run outside now you'll still be able to get some traffic pictures today

thanks mate....i would like to call it "constructive criticism" as it goes

due to my line of work...i've been involved in a few advertising campaign presentations and internal office presentations and stuff...

on the former, sometimes we get to present to top shot marketeers in the country and they have this habit of taking ad folks as casual-good for nothing-alcoholic-party animal, sorta stereotypical bunch so you really gotta have you stuff bang on especially if the client is new and you don't have a good rappo with the fella...

you gotta get into the heart of the issue, be able to focus on that and get everything else in your presentation to support it, be ready for all possible questions or faq's and you can only do all of this convincingly if you have done the ground work.

btw i don't know how you understood my post which happened to be the first reply to your query here... It was not a condemnation in any form and i've clearly said that. asking for an interesting intro and a closure to a presentation you're gonna be doing to god knows what audience is rather lame IMHO...

if you don't like what i've said that's fine mate I'm not here to win a popularity contest

run a search on www.flickr.com for colombo traffic...plenty of images there cos i got at least 86 hits with that search.

and good luck with that ego of yours... will take you many places i'm sure

Apriciate the site.But how can my ego be in this? i dont know how.But thats the bottom truth i said abt those ppl Coz Iv been a member of AL for a very long time even though i didnt post as much.So i know these ppl and how they are.So dood I dnt know who u are but i really dont care what u say abt my ego.True enough My mistake for asking in this on the forum But i thought AL members help each other out.Clearly i cud c thats not the case here Anymore

Dihan, Ripper does have a point about not knowing about the target audience. Besides, its a rather broad area. Or check cerno.wordpress.com if you want some ideas, he likes to write about Colombo traffic Tho thats personal observations, not statistical facts. What you can use will depend on that target audience.

Although its fair enough that everyone makes that assumption that everyone works in Colombo unless they know the person. I mean, I don't It's damn rare that I head to Colombo on a working day. During the daylight hours anyway

mate my initial reply to you was written in good spirit. it was not not bash you, insult you or "condemn" you like you've said in y our first reply to me and dilesh. I clearly told you that after not seeing any replies only for almost a day i did waste my time in replying it...

Your the one who decided to take it the wrong way and started to compare myself and dilesh to other people etc etc and said not to reply to threads if we can't satisfy all you wished for in that thread...

You or anybody else can't challenge the FACT that what i've written is indeed the truth about doing presentations. And if you looked around a little bit you would've found enough pics on flickr yourself... and at least i'm the only one who guided you to that resource at the end of the day...

Don't blame AL as a whole for what i've written to an incomplete post by you that didn't give enough information to anybody to properly answer you...

I will make this a good lesson to not answer folks with limited post counts like yourself who obviously don't know the people here that well and can't understand properly whether something is written in good spirit or not...

i have my reasons for the Limited post counts.im not some techy guy i did do my research on it and u have no authority to Tell me im some lazy bum.Trust me Ripper I was a member of AL long befor u were.If ppl didnt rply that means they cannot help Thats ok.But Attacking one another isnt.So i mean i dont care.I asked some of the ppl online yest who were some of the leading roles of AL.They too did mention the fact that how rude this rply to me was evn tho they are not posting anything so thats all.

If i was rude and if AL big wigs are talking about it behind my back there's very little i can do about it

If they were honest enough they can come here and say straight like proper gentlemen that i was wrong... I aint perfect so with proper reasoning i'm willing to accept my inabilities to comprehend and answer things politely if that's the case...

I cant do that when it's these anonymous "leading roles" are saying things in the dark...

And for the record if anybody can't find a good opening or a closing to presentation they will be doing to an audience only they know and try to get somebody else to do this one day before the presentation itself...i'm pretty sure everyone can agree that the said presenter hasn't done their research...

1st of all Ripper listen i have no intention of dragging this thread.And now my presentation is over and is done with so now u beeing rude or not is not a matter to my concern anymore.Apriciate the fact that u gave me a website such as flicker.Thank you for that. But im not gonna reply to what u have said last coz now its just a waste of my time and i wont gain anything from it.
