As i think u better go for a vitz or starlet rather than goin for a alto......vitz(1L vvt) does abt 13/14km per ltr.....it may be less than a alto bt it'l be easy for u to resell a vitz or a starlet even after 5 years than a alto....

Since you say it's gonna be the first car for your family and you need space for 5 adults... IMO...i doubt a maruti or a similar size car will fit that bill...

One of my office buddies Alto supposedly does 17kmpl outstation driving and my corolla does about 15 so there are Jap cars that are quite good on fuel...

As a base rule...newer cars are supposed to be better than the older ones so if you have the bucks...english number plated cars are better than the older 300- or 19-. But that also vary from car to car depending on how they've been maintained and driven etc...

Since you can go upto 15.5 max... why not checkout a Nissan FB15... One of my friends just sold his HN plated FB15, manual, 10-12kmpl in city, V*P model for the same price...

It's a pretty decent ride... will give you better carry capacity than a hatch :)

Better to go for Nissan FB-15, Manual, Super Saloon car.

DONT buy automatic gear car.

My FB-15 (manual gear) do 10 to 12 Km per liter, when i drive within city limits. (Biyagama to National Hospital (177 route) (I think u knw abt traffic @ 177) / (National Hospital to NITESL Kadawala) (Via Nugegoda, Aththidiya or Via Galle Rd) I do near 150 Km :angry-smiley-048: daily by my FB-15.

FB-15 is comfortable :alc: and also u can sell it after 5 yrs with good price.
