Engine Oils

Well.. mine has done only 123,000ks.. So not quite in the "old" category, I presume.. :P So switch to Mobil next time for sure.. Would there be any effect in switching to semi-synth from mineral.??

Also any one has any idea about flushing and whether clogging might happen..

Personally dude, I use Shell Helix Ultra on my SR16VE. I used Mobil1 once, It really does clean it the stuff out, I had to change it after a less than 2k coz it was all black, but I switched back to Shell coz the Mobil oil pressure dropped too much when the oil heated up. Guess it looses its viscosity. The Shell holds the right pressure at operating temps. Mileage is in the 120k range too.

Aha.. When I went through all the threads relating to engine oil, the most recommended oil was the Mobil XHP.. Now you disagree and leaves me confused.. Does Mobil lose its viscosity under normal operating temperatures or at extreme conditions..? I was quite happy with BP until this issue came up and now want to give nothing but the best for my engine..
