I think i know wht the 'jaguar' model is like, but not the 'dog' model. It would be nice to see a pic of each jus to differentiate the models clearly. <_<

yeah they are both popular models in SL... if youwant luxury for cheap, this is the option... just have to overlook the fuel economy

My dad has one. (Jaguar Model). Its done about 60k.

For:

1.) Comfort. It has the best back seat and is incredibly roomy.

2.) Handles ok.

3.) Good all round buy.

Against:

1.) We need to keep sending it to Hyundai Lanka for them to clean out the A/C ducts as it keeps clogging up (and the fan blowing reduces). Also A/C is average.

Fuel Economy:-

On 1000 bucks we get about 108 Km. (95 Oct). Works out to about 8.5-9 Km/ Ltr Colombo Running. - We are particular about the engine and its tuned by Hyundai once every 6 months.

Performance:-

This is a mystery. I think the speedometer lies here. 70 km/hr feels like so slow. Anyway it feels sluggish but when you look at the speedo it absolutely thrashes through to 100/120 without any issue.

On 1st you can hit about 65 Km/hr hitting 5500 revs. Ratios are set for cruising (not fun).

damn dude dats gud figures cos ive been gettin very bad comments abt its thirst...is ur car brand new?cos hyundai told me that the recon ones r poor on fuel but the brand new ones r ok (n i knw they were tellin me the truth cos a frnd of mine is a loyal customer n he knws d dudes well)...i think the biggest problem in SL is ppl dnt knw where to use 95 octane gas n hence they dont...ive even seen monteros pumping 90!n well the sonata owners ive spoken to dnt seem the regular maintenance type...

I've noticed through experience and from what I've heard that some European cars seem to have this problem. And this isn't the first case I've heard of such a thing with a Hyundai so looks like the Korean cars have got this issue too. But I've never seen such a thing with Japanese cars so far. Is it because Japan is more polluted? Or any reason  Let me know if anybody knows.

yeah machan its true what you say about the recon ones being poor on fuel. The thing is my dad and I hardly push the car we generally keep it below 2500 revs. The moment you thrash the thing those figures drop drastically. I think the only reason we get good figures is because of regular maintenance. Also the Sonata is not a car to be thrashed because the performance is not to great.

Our car is a recon. When we bought it (JB reg) it had about 40,000kms on the clock. The amazing thing about it was the previous owner (Singapore) maintaned a meticulous service history of the vehicle and kept a record of it in the cars original manual. This guy had details of every service and every single thing done to the vehicle all by Hyundai Singapore. That was part of the reason we bought it even though the dealer here was asking 45k more than the Silver Sonatas (our's is Black btw).

I saw a Prado pumping 90 once. I cant understand it. the 3 buck diff is nothing compared to the saving if he drives it right on 95.
