hey guys....

how much would a USED Indica V2 be?

i tried the clasified section MADZ, but search for tata doesnt give anything...

i called D*MO and they said brand new would be 1,290,000 for normal or 1,390,000 for full option... but looking for a used one... the cheaper the better... engine quality doesnt matter.. heck, i dont mind even one without an engine.. :).. no joke....looking to convert to diesel..

and how much is the tax for converting a petrol car to diesel?

thanks in advance guys....

I heard it's fuel economy is not that good 9 km/l (petrol). For a 1300 cc hatch that is not very good is it ? Is this true ?

like i said mahcan, i'm not interested in the engine... cos hoping to convert the car to diesel... cos runung petrol aint no cheap thing.... and if as you said it burns so much petrol even worse.... and the petrol engine is a 14000cc engine not 1300cc..

my dad's quite into the car cos its pretty roomy for a car thats as small as that...

14000 cc ???? :D you mean 1400cc right  ?

Anyways, I have to agree that the car is nice and roomy. Would be a good choice if you convert to diesel i guess. I saw a used one advertised in the paper once and it was around 1 mil.

hey, so i take it you have an indica...

can u give a view or 2 on it? hows the vehicle in build quality etc? interior etc?

Machan Dilesh,

How about a Diesel Starlet, they used to go at about 900K before the tax rise, but I know they are pretty solid cars and good on Diesel

They marketed the Tata INDICA as the City Rover in the UK, and many still see it as exemplarary of Rover's demise, and it has very bad reviews, though I guess on the other side parts are dead cheap for all Indian vehicles and on the long run the Tata Might be cheaper to run than a Jap car,

hi guys,

i totally agree with dons idea of a starlet, as that has a good resell value & you can go any ware without a problem. & you cannot compare the comfortability of the starlet to the indica ( i havent gone in a indi car in sri, but in india yes ) correct me if i'm wrong

as don said the parts are cheap in indian cars but the reliability is a quetion mark.

we have a ambassidor classic 2002 model diesel , parts are cheap, & we manly bought it to run out of colombo(factory visits) , very good on fuel 13km/ltr in colombo

but now if you run 3 days at a stretch , you need to keep the car for 2 days in the garage.milage only 68,000km's.

wow Diesel Starlet's cool' is it a diesel turbo car ?, n i saw many old model madzda familiya diesel cars with bonnet scoop on streets, so try mazda or starlet

U were there when Mivec was singing the praises of the Kelissa, right? At the G2G? Wanna consider that? When u factor in maintainance, with the fuel figures he is getting, it's gonna be cheaper ownership than a diesel running 10-12kmpl city running.

No Dilesh I never had an Indica but was using one 4 a brief period of time in ma previous work plc..it was not a bad car, power steering/shutters, full option, pretty fast too., reasonable on fuel, city run used 2 do abt 10/11 pKm, interior is good seats are very comfortable and high, we bought it for 1.2Mn from D*MO, but i hear that the 2nd hand market 4 Indica V2 is not that good.

thankss for the coments....

i try sooo hard to convince my dad to try and keep the Gemini.... love that car... but like he says it is getting old.... 1989 built.... and he doesnt have a lot of time to be haing around garages, and i wont be able to do it either... so sadly i agree he has to replace the car.....

anyway, as for what the replacement is...

but here's the bottom line ont he cars

Starlet : nice car with TOYOTA reliablility.. but god bless a perosn who is merely average height who has to ride in the back seat..

Kelissa : true its a amazingly cheap runnign car.. but its petrol... and my father is VERY much a diesel person.. never owned a petrol car... and i THINK it might have the same problem with rear leg space...

Micro : its a very unique car and i dont know if there any diesel engine that'll fit the engine bay and fit the configurations

last nght i called him and he seems to ahve made his mind up about it.... Indica it is... a used engine comes to abt 40,000 indian rupees.. pls 11000 for a engine overhaul repair kit (rings etc) and in tyhe end the entire conversion is gonna cost about 185,000.

the car itself from what i figure will range from about 950,000 to 1 mil.... an he says no hurry, so wi;; be waiting for a cheaper car to come around....

till then Gemini it is :)

thanks for all the input guys.... ;)

the ones advertisments in papers are 1 mil... some cars ahve been bought on finance so the end cost is about 400,000 more.. is there anyway you can tell finance that you'll pay the lumpsum, and get a deduction on the total payable?

Posted

Most Finance Co's will wave off up to 65% from the total interest portion.

ahn thats good to hear.....

I guess it depends on what the finance company is and how many more payments are remaining… so gotta check on that when choosing a car..

thanks

My Wife's EP-82 starlet gets 13-13.5 km/l in heavy traffic conditions..mainly on 1st,2nd and 3rd gears.

Outstation average is 17 km/l. And this is with the A/C on all the time.

Ofcourse it must be said, starlets are not the most comfortable cars. But for city running its ideal

I just went though the options of the Indica on the D*MO site… it says P/Steering is OPTIONAL.. but I just called them to check and they say its standard… now wondering which to believe :party-smiley-015:

What do u guys think? I’m guessing its probably standard…
