Useful Tips to up-date your general knowledge

1. A single Cop, CANNOT stop you on the road !

(it's prohibited and you are not suppose to Stop either !)

2. A single cop CANNOT seize your driving license !

3. Only a 'traffic control' cop has the authority to request

anything MORE than your NIC when you are behind wheels.

4. A single traffic cop NEVER can press charges against you.

HE MUST HAVE A WITNESS IF DOES SO.

5. That's why you always find 'two' cops together

6. Police is a peace controlling force. NOT AN ARMED FORCE !!!

They are prohibited by LAW to carry anything more than a BATON !

(but due to the prevailing WAR, they are issued Guns by a supreme

court ruling,till the war ENDS)

7. So, if a Cop pulls a gun on you, YOU CAN sue him !!!

8. If a COP claims that you are drunk, you have the FULL right

to ask for a 'balloon test', if they DO NOT HAVE it in

their possession on the time of your request, you can GO.

9. Only Traffic Cops have the RIGHT to stop any moving

vehicle. (that's why you find at least 1 normal cop in

every checkpoint even though they are manned by Army)

10. COPS, CANNOT ENTER YOUR HOME OR WORK

PREMISES without a court Order. You have the

FULLEST right ASK for it, if they try to enter and also

DENY their entrance if you 'feel' like it.

11. A traffic cop CANNOT seize your driving license UNTIL he

fully states the crime you have committed and the relating

penal code violation. If he is unsuccessful in stating

them, you can go free

12. If a traffic cop seizes your license by force and ask you

to come to the police station to collect it. DO NOT GO !

Lodge a complain directly to Police commission or the

'Provincial IGP', YOU can get the cop SACKED for his

misconduct and unruly behaviour.

13. (for girls), If a COP asks for your Identifications and

(if you think he's doing it on purpose to harass you)

you CAN deny his request. He

cannot arrest you ! you have the RIGHT to request for a

Female Police officer.

14. (for Girls) If you are asked to be Body checked, it's your

right to get it done by a female cop. If they don't have

one in present, DENY their action.

Dude, How sure are on point #8. In recent times, cops don't have breathalizers on site.. if caught, you gotta go down to the cop shop, and they have you driven there..

Where is the legal source for these points? I see them from time to time, but they never mention whether these are legally accurate...We can't exactly take the cop to task on these points if we don't know if they're for real. So any lawyers here got any ideas?

Red flags go up when I read things like "provincial IGP" that as far as I know does not exist...

yeah last sat night cops stoped me and said my rear number plate light is not working, then ask for all licence insurance, DL, ID, then said im drunk, then said they got a call we race at GP, finally told me to go

well, most of stated points are true, esp the two copper law and being a traffic cop to request for the license and that's why now they never ask for the license in check points unless the cop is a traffic cop. However they have ways and means of handling these situation. For two copper law, they leave the police station in two and lodge the leaving entry as two and stay in two different points. End of the day lodge all court cases etc as two cops.. only evidence for you to prove that there were only one cop is if possible video record the incident, otherwise the book in police station says there were two cops at the incident.

i have first hand experience in challenging normal coppers when they try to "book" you for apparent traffic violations

i think i've shared this with the forum sometime ago but the rude shock i got was that when you "officially" complain against a copper it should be sent to the "police commission"

the folks there are quite friendly and seems like want to really do something good...

but the kick in the nuts is that you get "invited" for the "investigation" against the cop fella at the area ASP or SP's office AT the shed!!!!

Imagine you walking upto a cop shed, show them the letter thing that says you're here to go after a bad cop???

it aint pretty...

So finally i let it go... this is even when i had an uncle serving at the said cop shed as the DIG....

I'm counting the days until they take off these damn "emergency regulations"...

hopefully after that cops will get their wings clipped very short...
