Which Transmission Do U Prefer??

anyday i'll prefer manula over automatic..but mind u, when u r in hevy traffic, say like in sl, after 6 on galle road., i would love to have an automatic vehicle..it will be soooooooo much easier to move ur vehicle forward every cm..hehe..but manual gives me the satisfaction when it comes to speed and to slow down shifting gears when ever i wanna..

voted for manual cos it lets u hav more control over the vehicle and also more fun to dirve . though manual can be a pain in traffic, but yet i prefer it cos on empty roads and specially when overtaking vehicles manual is cool.

haha..is this even a question worth asking on a CAR ENTHUSIAST forum???? I'd pick a manual over an automatic anyday...even with heavy traffic it's a burden worth bearing i think! There's just so much more fun to be had.

(...though its not good for the clutch plate n pressure plate, can use the manual a bit like auto in traffic...hehehe...but i think a diesel vehicle is needed for it, as the engine wont stop...hehehe...gotto release the clutch till the vehicle just tries to move n then have the brakes pressed and then use the brakes to stop or let the vehicle move....hehehe...)

Come to think of it, both of em have their pros and cons, thats y Tiptronic ( sequential shift) is gona rule in the years to come. But its gona be some time before they are introduced to standard range of vehicles.

Manual anyday....Even in colombo.. when you are on D in a Auto and step on the brake to slow down in trafic tyou actually work against rhe engine (which is burning fuel..) you feel the resistance ont he brake... but in manuals you dont work against the engine...in fact as soon as you let your foot off the gas, the engine too acts as a stoping force...

plus manual is way mroe fun.. went to matara and back during the weekend.. drove the G.Vitara (Diesel Auto).. even though its a turbocharged engine, you feel the need for more throttle control than that when it comes to overtaking dumb-ass threewheelers, drivers of which who think its cool/fun to have conversations while driving paralel to each other..

I think most of the complaints related to manual transmissions are myths due to the lack of good learning guides. Here's one of the best on the net.

And I agree with Dilesh on the breaking. I hear that a lot AND how about 'thallu start.. huh', when your battery gives up on you ?? Manuals don't need jumpers, ask some one to push the vehicle, put the car into 2nd or 3rd gear, wait for some momentum, engage the clutch... cough.. cough... brooooooom. We are back in business

Guess it depends from driver to driver. There are people who LIKE to drive, and there are people who ENJOY driving.......Manual transmission is preffered by the latter...I voted for the manual because driving with the gears improves the skill.

However MULTITRONIC transmission have the ability to take down manual cars......well lets not get into that cos its a different topic altogether!

Manual. I know only a few ppl who prefer auto. Me dad is leaning that way in old age after a life time of stick. The sis can't drive manual anyway And after never finding girls that like manual, I found about 4 in one day recently Judy, Nads? ur preference?

I already said I like manual praveen..my own car is a manual and I drive a auto March gvn by office..but I prefer the manual coz I feel that am in full control of the vehicle...and I enjoy driving it too even in da traffic..( I think u must b aware of da Battaramulla/ parliment road traffic in da morn )
