Hey guys,

Still using my friend's account. I tried registering again but it didn't seem to work. Admins, some help?

Anyways, saw a 98 Integra, auto transmission, has done over 130,000 km <_<, has some oil leakage on the engine... (The guy told me not to worry and assured me that that was a common fault with VTECs...) and is quoting 1.8 million.

Oh and when the engine's idling and I steer the wheel, the tach drops a few hundred revs.

What do you all think?

pretty sure that the oil leakage can't be normal on vtecs.

why not speak to zakie, he owns an integra and he will be able to tell you the pros and cons of that car. 0777508864

Whoever the seller should be an idiot, or thinks that the buyers are idiots to believe that an oil leak is normal.

Re the tacho drop when turning, its cause the power steering pump pulls power from the engine when you steer.

There could be slight moves of the tachometer indicator when you steer while idling, but if it drops a few hundred rpms, then something is wrong.

Either the pump pulls more power than specified, or the ECU doesn't calculate the additional power required to be generated by the engine when steering.. (worse case - the ECU is chipped and wasted)

just my 2 pence, may neither be 100% accurate nor relevant to all..

While we are all sure you "know" what a VTEC can do, I would appreciate it if you didn't call ppl sucker on the forums.

And yes, I'm sure he is no an Inegra Rider...

The dude is supposedly a reputed car dealer, with a long history of dealing with Hondas.... and he seemed rather genuine when he spoke to me. <_< Plus, he popped the hood of his own Integra and showed me a similar oil stain on his engine. Hence his claim of it being a "normal" thing with Vtecs.

The car doesn't seem to be sold yet, even though its repeatedly advertised in the papers. :D

....."Reputed car dealer with a long history of dealing with Hondas......" sounds familiar,..... if it is one Bearded dude down Dutugemunu St. with an English sounding first name steer well clear of the Crook ! I was duped by him some time back....Excuse he gave me was that Autovision expert recommends not to wash engines so that is why it was so oily.... he had even gone so far as to lower the pressure of the tyres so that the loose suspension would not be noticed.
