How Do They Assign Number To Vehicles

Hi Guys

What are the numbers and the mechanism , they assign numbers to vehicles,

Ex:- 31,32,64,65 are known as diesel and seen some 325 series also, i don't know how ?

and also seen 29,30 diesel and some 38,39 petrol,

can any one familiar with this process explain it to me please

i'm sure this was discussed in details in this forum. Try little bit of searching. For the reg. numbers you asked for

31,32,64 and 65 are "diesel motor car" category. 325- is given for re-registered vehicles due to being ex forces or petrol to diesel conversions.

29/30 is diesel motor coaches and 38 is for petrol motor lorry category and 39 is given for petrol hearses AFAIK. I'm sure Miniace will further enlighten you on this.

Both 38 and 39 include Petrol Lorries, Vans (not dual purpose), Ambulances and hearses.
