What's The Differance Between M42 & M44 Engine

Hi Guy's can somebody tell me the technical difference between M42 & M44 engine?

M42 is 1.8 (1796) 138Bhp and found on E30 platform cars and OBDI, M44 is 1.9 (1896) 136Bhp came for E36 platform cars and OBDII.These are the basics.Lot of technical differences..need more?

Thanx Mini, Yes I need some more details.... What about M40? are the M40/42 comes only on E30's or common to E30/36??? & Why is M44 lesser BHP than M42?

Well Its a E36 1992 318i M40 Maroon colour 19-49XX Doing a paint job @ da moment, will get some pics out soon Mini.......

Difference between the intake manifold in addition to all the plastic parts of M 44 is that the M42 and M 44 is not DISA. throttle bodies are different, M 44 is installed TB and ICV M42 is the top outlet manifold.
