guys,,,iv been having oil sleeks in my car for nearly a month...i went to a mechanic and that A**hole said that nothing to worry...no problem...but im not satisfied... i see oils sleeks on my garage floor very often...sometimes a lil bit and at times a lot.

so today i went under the car and had a look and i saw a pinkish fluid drop( OMG..is that ATF fluid leak),,and i guess thats the reason but the oil on the floor happens to be colorless n odorless most of the time...im confused to the CORE!!!

iv uploaded some pics so that you guys may be knowing what exactly im talking about//

thanks alot...

if its pink oil and based on the drip point in the photo, it could even be dripping from the power-steering..

Well, why dont you trace the oil drip to its origin?

the origin?no issues after buying it fromm the owner,...then i gave her a full service(the one for every 3500km) and aft about 2-3days of the service the oil sleeks started....damn

this is the thing...mostly i see it from the right side(the pice)...but once i saw a leak from the left CV joint...

thats the story.....any ideas???special places?mechanics..

First identify what the fluid is on the ground. Is it engine oil, transmission oil or ATF/Power steering fluid or even break fluid? Someone should be able to help if you give the color and density details.

yep...i too think that it can be the power steering fluid cos that too is red-pink kinda color.

since it's a substantial leak i'm sure it should be somewhat easy to trace to the source.

Open the power steering oil reservoir cap and see if the oil level has gone down so we can eliminate that one out!

If oil is leaking from the CV joint near the drive shaft them it's defa gear oil...

shouldn't be too difficult to fix...

There is a chap called Wasantha near the Dematagoda railway crossing...Bugger does a good job on most mechanical stuff and generally wont rip you off!

+2 looks like power steering oil leak.....if this is the case as mentioned by ripper u will loose a lot of PS. oil specially when u turn & the reservoir will also start to empty at a rapid pace.....

when i bought my car i had a similar issue....i was told my CV Joint had to be replaced (u will get a noise when u turn when ur CV joint is busted) but i ended up replacing the power steering rack, the CV joint with the boot (the rubber thing connecting the CV joint)....

GUYS>>>i checkd the PS reservoir....cuoldnt be measured by the cap-lid,,so inserted a wire and and the oil was a little less than half!!!! and the oil sleeks was almost right under the reservoir..

in that case what should i do guys???

thanks

oil should be to the level as indicated by the cap dip stick...two levels...one for hot and the other cold...

If it's beyond the cap dip stick range you're loosing oil and the problem attended to and oil refilled.

To fix it,

firstly try to find where the oil is leaking from...is it the from the hoses, or the pump etc etc..

sometimes it can be as simple as a brittle hose gone bad and leaking oil.

If at present the area is all gunked up with oil residue etc...clean the area up a bit so it should be lot more easier to nail exact spot the oil leaks from.

fairly easy thing to do!
