What do you mean after using,

have you been using other than fully syn before and now you have changed?

Slightly Depends on the oil too, generally you could do about 6000 km though at agents were told

Mobil could do even up to 10,000 km's or 6 months.

But I hv been changinging around 6000 due to idle running at traffic,

of course running fully syn from day one.

10,000 ??? I thought we should change oil around 4,000 - 5,000 KM? I use mobil in my EK3 and used to changed oil at 4.500km.

Can I know below below for an EK3.

Oil change interval (Mobil) -

Oil filter change -

Air Filter change -

Power steering oil -

Are you by any chance using Mobil Super XHP?

Machan exact name doesn't come to mind now. The shop I buy has two oils one is for brand new engines he said. The one i use has the name Mobil S/W 40 ..... some thing which cost me Rs.2400 for 4 ltr with the discount.

It should be the XHP then. Mobil super XHP is not a fully synthetic motor oil. 10-12K km shouldn't be a problem at all with fully syn. Here most of the dealers use oil such as castrol magnatec, which is not a fully syn.,on b'new cars and recommend service intervals of 10000kms. Driving conditions are very different though.. :)

I use Mobil Super XHP and change oil in every 5000 kms (as per service tag) .would love to know the if the same oil can be use for 8000 kms or more.

I think you are talking about mobil super 1000. Its not a fully synthetic oil. As far as I know Mobil1 is the synthetic range.

yes i checked in it's Mobil super 1000 X2 15W-40 it says mineral oil. So would be the oil change interval.

What you heard is nonsense- I used fully-synth is my previous Honda and my current Nissan- both have variable valve timing systems, never had an issue. Currently use mobil 1 40w Gold and change it every 6000kms or 6 months- which ever comes first

Same interval, Shell Helix Ultra

So the right time is 4500Km right??

The actual mileage intervals can be misleading. Let me provide an example:

- My car, though it has been speced for mineral oil, also requires that if you use synthetic, that it be changed every 3750 miles.

This might be due to Subaru turbos having a well documented history of failure due to the banjo filter getting clogged. To avoid continuing turbo failures SOA (Subaru of America) issued a technical service bulletin advising all owners to change their oil at 3750 miles or every 3 months even with using fully synthetic oil. This just might be an attempt by SOA to cover their collective ass*s from continuing liability for engine and turbo failure.

In sum - if your car is normally aspirated, the 6000kms scenario should work. If it uses a blower (supercharger) or a turbo, the intervals need to be less due to the nature of how you drive.

Just my 2cents as I dive for cover from the inevitable thermonuclear detonation fall out from every Subaru owner who swears by their car's reliability especially the WRX and STI crowds

as chris also said in his post, your service interval can vary significantly based on variety of factors. Driving style, environmental conditions, driving distance, traffic conditions, type of the engine etc..so can't really give you a straight forward answer :)

Thanks guys,

Mine is no turbo. Just the VTEC so better stay with 4500 - 5500 range maximum.

Any suggestions on oil filter change? do i need to change in every oil change? most of the time I use Honda original filter, but some times use normal one given by the service guys

below site has a wizard to guide you to select correct synthetic oil for your model.
