I donno man, X6 is a bit beyond my budget right now (no doubt looks cool) and knowing Nokia they usually bring the prices down by over $100 USD after the first year. I can get a 5800 for $230 now, whereas it was over 300 when released, and according to the Lankan Nokia dealer when I contacted them is Rs.40k, plus the girl spent 10 mins finding the price, only to tell me (after another 5 minute hold) that they are not in stock, then to tell me (after another couple mins on hold) that she has no idea when they'll be in stock...I'm also as I said looking for only basic features in the phone (checking e-mail might be cool, though), not worried about cameras and the like as I prefer to use a real cam for that. I might just hang on to my old phone then, and wait till the X6 drops in price, unless an affordable HTC hoves into view. whats the price of the HTC Hero.. you might as well consider that

Wait a couple of months, X6 sure drop its price since X6 16 gb is there too... Nokia sri lanka S***logic sucks.. they are only the authrized distributor for SL (Not a nokia official dealer).. So they will not entertain anything related to international warranty.. If your Original Nokia bought from abroad then sorry, even if it is manufacturer fault we need to pay the total cost if repaired by softlogic.. X6 Got most of the tech available in the present... out of da two, nokia x6 is rather the high end phone which comes with 32GB afaik. i bought da x6 16gb from mzone 2 weeks back. impressed! wel its my first ever touch fone. wz an SE fan all da way from T10 -> T610 -> K800 n then settled wit this nokia. comparing with 5800 i think it differs only wit the 5mp cam. but it got super looks. im in luv wit those sharp square shapes it got gps n ya it works well. im getting a windscreen mount from ebay soon. wat i miss is the keypad unlock feature by touch (like da iphone). dis 1 has a separate sliding button for it n im not used to it yet and imo it sucks. MkX
SeanD said: Anyone know about Nokia 5800? Heard it's an "iPhone" killer, but has been around for a while now. I have no need for something as pricey/fancy as a iPhone or HTC, (I do love the HTCs though), but the 5800s are cheap in the US now (half the price of Softlogic's quote). Moving back to SL in a couple of months, so thought to finally upgrade my 5 years old Nokia 6230i. Mixed reviews up to now, so if it sucks I'll just stick with my good old one, and upgrade when the N80 or whatever comes out. I used 5800 for one year or so, since it's launch till last month i sold it. I must say it is a solid phone, 8GB card was more than enough for me, high speed too. Internet, Navigation, every thing works well. However if you are expecting fancy touch experience by iPhone this is not the phone. But only negative point i felt is lack of quality of the 3.2 Mega pixel camera. There were even better quality 2M cameras in Nokia.

Shrapnel
Has anybody checked out a mobile that goes by the name Nokia Aeon????? You guys might wanna checkout the clips on Youtube, specifically the one that says "unboxing Nokia Aeon" or something to that effect... IMHO a very curious and unusual mobile. Leave it to the Chinese to beat the Finns to the punch! Wonder why this has not turned up in MC,LP and wherever else,YET Checkout this link: http://www.youtube.com/user/xallrons#play/...s/0/4YKc5Ka5nD8

Yes, it's with an AT&T contract. I'm not sure how the jailbreaking process works (don't think its a DIY thing) but if it's not DIY then it'll probably cost you. More likely, once the new one comes out the price of the unlocked 3GS will drop significantly

Loves the looks of this phone n waiting it to arrive here, its there in pettha market but not gonna take any risk buyng it from there.. Machang wholesellers in pettha single handedly run the mobile phone business in this country. They may not have fancy showrooms but they have inventory that worth about 10mil at any given time. All these fancy stores in MC, LP etc buy their stuff from them.

True, I have bought a couple of phones from the Pettah dealers, although I no longer own them, I know they're still running fine. From time to time, you will get a phone that has been used slightly (found some porn on an old Nokia cameraphone that they sold to me "new" ) but for the most part they are defect free. Haha yeah, tech/phone sites were talking about this for months and that's why i've even mentioned this in the first page. Anyway here is a nice comparison between some of the latest phones including iPhone 4, N8 and HTC Evo 4G http://www.engadget.com/2010/06/07/iphone-...e-plus-and-hd2/ Personally i'm waiting for N8. Gummybr
Interesting topic, but I feel that cooler the phone gets lesser the battery life. I still use my old SE K705 which maybe old but I still get three days plus battery life with all the calls, did a test run with office calls on the SE C905 and found that it cannot go for more than 1.5days without a charge (phone is about 1 year old). The reason I bought the 905 those days was because it was the coolest SE phone those days (specially cam). OT: Zeem35; how has the duty reduction affected the mobile phone market? Are we looking at a significant reduction in prices or will it be marginal? The X10 is very tempting.

Not to be negative, but I'd stay away from that X10, unless Sony actually delivers on that promise to upgrade it to Android 2.2 (or was it 2.1 they promised?) A friend of mine has got it, I'll let you know the verdict once I get a chance to play with it, but the 1.6 is very disappointing. Also, 2.2 is supposed to get far superior battery life to the older versions HTC is the current bet. They have already stated that all their 2010 models will be running 2.2 before the end of the year. That said, I shall wait for the vapourware known as the Nexus 2. I want a proper functioning hardware keyboard dammit! Is that too much to ask? I've only seen 2 Android phones with decent keyboards thus far!
