Do some forum searches and see, you'll find lots of information about what you have asked. Also let the experts know what are the main factors you're looking at (resale value, fuel, etc.).

we managed to sell our family 2001 honda city for 1.4 mil on the very first day of advertising in AL. on the next day we got a very real attempt by another person to buy the same car for 1.5 mil, even deleberating us to return the advance we had taken from the person to whom we eventually sold it for 1.4 mil. so i suppose honda city is in your range. but that's not the only choice of course, there are plenty more. but we'd be able to help you if you mention what your priorities are.
