hyacc
Sunday, 18 July 2010 16:38 A special traffic plan will be implemented with effect from 6.00am tomorrow from Kohuwala to Havelock road, Police media spokesman Prishantha Jayakody told Daily Mirror online. The special traffic arrangement will be implemented as a measure to control the massive traffic which prevails in the mornings and also in the evenings. Under the new plan Stafford Avenue will be closed for vehicles heading from Pamankada to Highlevel road. Vehicles can enter Highlevel road by turning left from the Pamankada road block through the old Havelock road and Maya Mawatha. Vehicles will not be allowed to use the old Havelock road to travel from W.A De Silva road to Kohuwala. Vehicles will have to use Maya Mawatha and enter Highlevel road and through Stafford Avenue up to Pamankada and then towards Kohuwala. Vehicles heading from Havelock road can use the Maya roundabout and through the W.A De Silva Mawatha towards Pamankada, SP Jayakody said http://www.dailymirror.lk/index.php/news/5...ffic-plan-.html

Really hope all these 'ideas' will work. These traffic congestions are so frustrating - and we invariably get caught to traffic jams - when we are late for something important!! With the coming influx of new vehicles in to the country, even if some of them replace older vehicles, things aren't going to get any better. It seems that High Level Road/Stafford Lane junction Traffic Lights Timings are not correctly aligned with traffic towards Kohuwala from Colombo (in evening peak), big rush near old Vilasitha Nivasa Junction & no control over traffic enter in by roads ( between above said junctions). Apart from those the plan is good. Edited July 20, 2010 by Rohnd
Miyuru Daminda
Looks like new traffic plan has increased traffic from Thimbirigasyaya to Kirulapona during evening rush hours.
