Dear All,

I noticed a water accumulation under the carpet of the legspace of the rear seat. I couldnot track the cause for months and finally found its occuring through the tail light assembly.

I found the weak gasket (located between the taillight assembly and the vehicle body) is the cause for that. Guys, are those gaskets are available in the market (my car is a Vios) or seems it is possible to make such a gasket by ourselves if the sponge like gasket material is available. Can somebody shed some light how to fix this problem.

Guys....such waterleak can really be left unnotices. it would be good idea to check your cars for such water leaks.

You can find some thin rubber sheets and cut a new gasket for this or even use a silicone rubber sealant.

is it a rubber beading by any chance? care to upload a picture showing the back side of the tail light once you remove the tail light assembly? You can use some silicone adhesive / windscreen sealant to fill the gap between body and the tail light assembly where it tight fits. Attached a rough diagram I\\\'ve prepare assuming the setup of your car, if you can upload a pic as you said it might be really useful for us to help.

Hey Harsha,

It's not a rubber beading. It is a kind of flexible materia (a sheet) placed inbetween the body and the back side of the tail light assembly. I tried to find it in couple of shops around kandy, no success.

I'll upload a photo soon.
