Mitsubishi Cedia - Engine Tuneup

Question

Posted

Good day guys,

need some advice for a Mitsubishi Lancer (Cedia) .. Had to go out of Sri Lanka for a while and gave my car to a good friend of mine, but anyway ...don't want to talk about it .. :violent-smiley-030:

Now it's like the car is loosing it's pulling power which I never experienced .. Sometimes specially in the traffic, car shakes and engine stops (Never had that problem) .. not sure what the problem is as I am not in to Motor Engines in anyway.

1. Do you guys have any recommended place to do a complete engine checkup (may be repair) + tuneup for a Mitsubishi ?? This is the 2002 model, auto gear car with 1.5 engine..

2. Any place to get a complete interior restoration done as my friend's dog has done a marvelous job inside the car (including seats) ..

I believe I am not violating the forum rules by asking for recommendation !!

Hi SDNC

Best to go to agent(Unit#d Mot#rs) but they are expensive,

have you given the car to the same friend whose dog has done interior modification ? :)

when you return back this time the dog might have eaten your engine :D

thanks

regards

For the engine related matter, please take to the agents. Don't let ordinary mechanics handle these high tech engines.

Who wants enemies when there are friends like that?

The Cedia has one of those messy GDI engines right? It sounds a lot like fuel starvation, so maybe a standard clean throttlebody/injector etc cleaner might not hurt to try out first. And if your buddy hasnt been taking very good care of the car it'd be a good idea to do it anyway.

Kleen Park should sort out your messy interior issue. they do an excellent job at that :)

Even PitStop should be ok

for the other issue...agents would be the best bet cos if your friend has allowed the dog to poo in the car...you don't really know how well he has looked after the rest of the car.

Sounds like an idelling problem. Idelling motors in GDI engines are well known for problems. Also replace the fuel filter, if you haven't done in for a long time. Google GDI idelling problems and you will find heaps of good stuff. Correct me if sound pretty wrong...

Hi Sumith,

Yes ..agents are expensive but will check with them since it's the engine ..thanks for the advice.. :)

Thanks mate and very true abt the friends ... :action-smiley-060:

Hey Ripper,

are you certain about Kleen Park .. I used to service the car with them but not sure about the interior part .. hey ..dog didn't poo inside the car but lots of scratches .. :)

No no... dog didn't poo inside the car but Fxxx , lots of scratches inside and in the doors ..

Sounds like an idelling problem. Idelling motors in GDI engines are well known for problems. Also replace the fuel filter, if you haven't done in for a long time. Google GDI idelling problems and you will find heaps of good stuff. Correct me if sound pretty wrong...

Hi Wrav003,

Usually I replace the oil filter and the air filter in every service ..(I think that's the filter you are referring to) ..and again this is not GDI .. Lucky me , I guess..

May be your friend didnt use 95 octane petrol. this problem occurs on GDI vehicles using the usual 90.

Hi Topgear,

I was using 95 Octane only (even it is EFI) but not sure what he has used when after I gave the car.. planning to go for a full injector cleanup + tuneup.

Looks like it's better to go for the agents for the engine stuff but I am not sure where to go for the interior stuff.. :(

Thanks a lot guys for taking time to reply me .. :)
