This I got from another site.......... looks like this movie's gona be packed with action

It has been said that even less than halfway through the production of a movie the people involved can all tell if it's going to be a winner. It is as if one knows when all the bits and pieces of film, props, acting, sound, and stunts will amount to that rare confluence of incidences that all add up to some genuine motion picture magic. That being said, Car******.com recently had the chance to visit the second unit on location of the upcoming third installment of the Fast and Furious. The second unit is the part of the moviemaking machine that handles the good stuff as far as the drifting fan is concerned. In this case that good stuff is the stunt driving, and some sweet cars. Deep in the darkest part of Tokyo, or in this case an abandoned parking garage in Los Angeles, Car****** spied some sweet Silvias, vintage Mustangs, a Saleen prepped Mustang GT, and R32, a Veilside Mazda RX-7, and even a Volkswagen. We also saw some precision driving courtesy of Rhys Millen, who was under the lights and cameras behind the wheel of a 350Z. Wearing a short cropped black wig instead of a long blonde one, and with the cameras rolling Rhys hammered the Z for a few takes sideways up a parking garage corkscrew with only inches to spare from the concrete walls on either corner of the car. The backstory? Sean, played by Richard Black, is an American living in Japan who challenges the top Tokyo drifter to a race hardly knowing what drifting is. Sean destroys his Silvia while attempting to catch the drift king, in this case Millen in a wig - who effortlessly drifts up through the parking garage corkscrew.

Veteran stuntman and second unit director Terry Leonard was impressed both by the toughness of the Nissan and Millen's driving skill. Millen, Tanner Faust and Samuel Hubinette are handling the stunt driving of the movie. Even though the crew prepped up five Silvias for early stages of shooting, by the fourth day there were still five left.

"If we didn't have these guys, and people were trying to do the drifting at their level of expertise, we'd be smacking these cars up right and left. They're missing walls by six inches. That level of expertise only comes from someone that does it for a living. Someone that does it all the time", said Leonard.

And the cars themselves are set up just as they would be to hit a D1GP or Formula D circuit. The driving in Fast and Furious 3 will be as real as it gets, with the addition of a small amount of the cinematic reality enhancer know as CGI. The gyroscopic boom camera mounted on top of a matte black Porsche Cayenne also helped to capture viewpoints impossible from a human viewpoint. Even though Car****** witnessed Rhys repeatedly hammer the Z up the corkscrew with our own two eyes we never saw what the flying boom cam recorded. Leonard admits that even though there were things from the storyboards that he and the drivers admitted they couldn't do, the good majority of tire burning action was laid down on film on schedule with no issue. Even with years of experience as a stuntman Leonard's enthusiasm for the driving showed as he grinned with Millen while rolling back though the footage on the monitor. He simply leaned back in his director chair and said "I can't believe it".

Isn't Rhys Millen the one who did the driving for the 350Z commercial in the States? Thats a good driver man. But then, thats an excellent car :(:D

It also helps that Rhys' uncle and dad were among the most legendary Z-car tuners and racers ever. And that he is a factory Mitsubishi Rally driver in the States.

And the Sam Hubinette they mention there is another stud. He is the factory Viper Competition Coupe driver in the US D1GP series.
