Hi All,

I am going to buy a Nissan March. This is the spec. Condition is Good.

Year of Manufacture 2007/03, Displacement 1200cc, milage 20788km, Japan rating 4, CD, Power Steering, Cassette/Radio, ABS, AC, Service Book, User Manual.

How much does it cost here? I need to decide whether to buy it or not. What your idea about price?

another car sold today in one of my friends car sale at 21lakhs.

Its close to silver, but not really. kind of silver and purple mix. really cant explain :-)

if it is non basic color it goes around 22-23.5 as knw..........

depends on the kind of shell it has nickel one has good demand.........

Are you going to order the car now? If it is 2007/03, the car has to loaded to the ship before end of this month, isn't it? You need to be careful and be assured that this can be done prior to placing the order. Correct me if I am mistaken here.

Is the date taken for this purpose the date of loading to the ship, or date of arrival (or clearing?) in Sri Lanka?

Also, is the date calculated from the date of manufacture, or from the date of first registration (I thought it was the latter) - if it is the latter then there should be enough time. But hard to imagine a direct import can cost only 1.5m if the general market price is 2.1

The date taken to this is the date of loading to the ship.

The date is calculated from the date of first registration...Usually you don't get the date of the first registration in the export certificate...all what you get is the month and the year...in this case the date will be taken as last date of that respective month...so for this car it will be 31-03-2007 and this means the car has to be loaded to the ship prior to 30-09-2010 as per the current rule of 3 and half years. So you have less than one month.

in this case, 2007-03 is the date of manufacture, isn't it? so it all depends on how early/late the car was registered in japan??

I think 2007/03 is the first registration month and year. You don't get the date of manufacture in the export certificate as far as I know. The sellers always refer to the date of first registrtation as it is this date that matters when you import cars to Sri Lanka (Probably the same rule applies for other countries as well).

Yes it all depends on the date of first registrtaion in Japan (or any other country where the car is registered). Guys correct me if I am wrong.

It seems like no one has bought it yet, so I guess there isn't an export certificate yet (I'm guessing that at least some of the buyers at auctions are japanese themselves?)

Getting back to the original question; if the going rate is 2.1m then 1.5m sounds like a steal; but they do say "if something's too good to be true..."

Also, Shan wrote elsewhere that he intends using <500km/month, so it actually might be better to leave the money in the bank and use A/C cabs...

- you don't have to spend (500km / 10 kmpl)*12 *115 = 69k/year on fuel

- never worry about resale value

- you don't have to pay insurance (~30k)/service costs/parts maintenance/revenue license, etc.

- you'll never be without a car cos it's in the garage (although you might be without a car if the cab service is busy)

- you can drink all you like, and you can sleep in the car

- you don't have to worry about getting copped

of course, you will spend about 300k/year on the cabs; but 1.5m in the bank should get you 150k/year as interest, and when you add in the other savings it might be worth... and at the end of it all, you still have the 1.5m in the bank (no depreciation)

LoL.. So then why we all buy cars? :-)

1.5 seems bit more cheaper, but the importer is one of my best friends :-) And more importantly this car has Japan rating 4. that means it has minor dings and scratches.
