Are we able to import a car from Dubai?.......(Right hand )

yes you can import frm dubai, in dubai they have a new yard of right hand drive vehicles for exporting purposes, so if you are work in UAE u can easily import and the government give some priority to UAE workers as well. (Have worked more than 3 years)

even you can import left hand drive vehicle, but first you have to get the permission from RMV under the special vehicle scheme. and you have to find a place to convert it to right hand drive.

a bit work to do.

When you import from Dubai, do you have to obtain the export certificate from Dubai?

For an example if you export a vehicle used in Dubai and converted to right hand, then you will only be able to get this document from Dubai, isn't it?

No one recently done this?

Did anybody import a car from Singapore recently? I can not understand why all importers are looking only at Japan auctions. Is Japan the only country which sells used cars. This could be another mafia. On the other hand, If Japan auction prices are increasing day by day, why these people are still buying from Japan? What I know from the experience is, if the vehicle is having an attractive shape and carring a reputed brand name, people do not care whether is was manufactured in Japan or some other country. Eg./ Toyota Vios, Civic Vti

People do care where it is made. what happned during last half a decade or so was that Jap cars became increasingly unaffordable that people had no option but to look for alternatives. Now that there's a glimps of hope in owning a Jap car everyones pursuing one and importers are meerly catering to the local demand. For your inforamtion prices in Singa has increased sharply as well for popualr makes/models.

People are still buying cars form Japan because they are very popular locally. Plus it is easier and cheaper to handle logistics for imports from Japan.

I was under the impression, taxes on cars are quite high in singapore for car importation. So wouldnt the prices of used ones be more expensive than the Jap equivalent. Unless there is a trade agreement for cars imported from thailand etc

Exactly Singapore used car prices are much heigher than in japan. Importing cars from sin is not a viable deal.

You boys are wrong. Not too sure how cars are taxed over there (in Singa) but the total cost of a car brought down from Singa is lesser than the same car (model) imported from Japan. Just compare 121 X or G grades with a LXI. There a market perception that cars from singa is not looked after as well as ones from Japan. Plus the fact that certain btis and peices are put added to the car in Singapore is not of the best quality, hence singa cars have a low demand.

Hay guys is anyone know how to import a vehicle from DUBAI ...pls let me know.......cos now im in DUBAI.......guys vehicles are damm cheap here........

if it is a left hand drive, you have to call RMV and get the permission. and there after it is normal procedure as importing from japan.

+1 That is what I have learnt after some search. It is probably cheaper to bring cars from Singapore.

In dubai there is plenty of right hand vehicles...so what is the process /.......if i want to send it to srilanka guys pls help me on this.....

call RMV and get the permission to import the left hand drive vehicle, and you have to show that you able to convert it left hand to right hand drive vehicle. (as my memory there is only one good place to do this in Sri Lanka). after that it is normal procedure like importing from japan.

By the way there is a right hand drive vehicle yard in Abudabi, so easily you can find a good right hand drive vehicle rather importing left hand drive one.

Where in Abudabi you get this right hand market? Do you have any contact number?

I used a EK3 imported from Sing. It was a very good car. The Sing owner had installed a good set up, very good leather seats and many more usable options. Further, since Sing is a smaller country than Japan, the running of the car is also less. Most Siing imported cars I have come across have been in very good condition and with lots of extras, which we can use.

True Hakjay...Lots of extras available with Singapore used cars....I also used a VIOS previously and it had all these extras....But recently there is a high demand for 1.3 Belta than the Vios....both cars are very similar in shape and price but people prefer the Japanese Car...
