Question

Posted

Hi

I found Nissan FB 15 super saloon (2000 - JA - In very good condition) for reasonable price. But it is Nissan FB 15 V I P car with leather seats. It has V I P tag in back next to Nissan logo. Friend of mine said that it was assembled in singapore and isn't worth for buy. Please explain this V I P thing. (it is difficult to find FB 15 super saloon for reasonable price these days )

thx,

yes the V*P model was assembled in Sing with leather interior. A colleague had one and sold it last year for 1.5mill i think.

it was a manual with cd loader etc etc in good shape except for a few scratches in the body

I've not heard any issues with the car being assembled in Sing except for our local market perception of if it being inferior. Nissan experts can correct me if i'm wrong

Price is around 19, car is in very good condition with out any scratches and engine and other conditions are also in good condn and done 85+ km.

also it has all option available in super saloon , retractable mirrors, rear head rest, RPM meter etc.

I wanna know that as my first car is it worth to buy for that price and if i needed to sell it back , can i get good price too?

Its not assembled in singapore AFAIK, but I guess the leather seats, burglar alarms and stuff is added in singapore or it is specially made in japan for the singapore market.

It would have been used in Sing.

JAFF you correct..

Its J Numbers.. That's all right..But 2000, S'pore// Rs.1.9Mn is too much....

Generally s'pore used cars have a low market value in SL.. I dont know why?? But thats how it is...

There are FB 15 new shells, Ex, 2002/3 models going for Rs.2.15Mn upwards....If possible go for a new shell....

I found a Super Saloon 2001 'JE' leather seat one for 1.7M when I was searching for buying a one two months ago. But I did't buy that because of the leather seats and the bad interior design compared to the JDM one with fabric seats.

19 is too much for a sigapore model.

I think you can find a good super saloon 2000 JDM one for 19.

And sigapore model have a plain sun visor while JDM one has a mirror and a light on the left sun visor.

Most of the JDM super saloons have a remote key.

Let me get this straight.. 1.9mill isnt justifiable for a S'pore car, but is is for a JDM one??? How vital is this mirror and light on the sunvisor?? i mean, seriously!?!?!?!?!

Ha ha ha ha ha... you got me there too... I just cant figure out the justification for prices on some of these 'options'. Some uneducated moronic broker decides that the particular 'light' model is the 'market' car and the rest of the moronic car buying general public herds after him. I know of a certain 'broker' who will make a standard option FB 15 to a Super Saloon V*P model using less than 50K and then selling it to the gullible car buying public for 500,000 more. he imports all the gizmos that the gullible car buying public of Sri Lanka demands and he just gives it to them.

Some examples,

Teak Interior.

Rear Seat Head Rest.

Chrome handles.

Front grilles and 'shells'

Instrument clusters with the Tacho.

You name it, this bugger has it all. He goes around buying semi option cars, fixes all the toys along with the neceesary Gullible badges and voila.... Rs. 500,000 mark up. I have seen him move 3 FB15s this way. All in a matter of a week.

As long as there are idiots willing to be fooled by slightly smarter idiots, the car prices, especially for the ones demanded by the idiotic car buying public of Sri Lanka will never come down.

Good luck to you all.

How did he install the RPM meter and the climate control A/C ? I think that's a very hard task.

Oh dang, I forgot. the installation of instrument clusters and swapping the AC control module is comparable to sending a man to the moon... ;) I heard that the FB15 V*P Super Saloon cars are made separately at the Nissan plant, alongside the Infinity models. :)

Machang, its as easy as changing a light bulb. Don't think that these mundane cars are Space Shuttles, though many like you treat it as such.

I know they are not space shuttles. I just asked you how he did that :)

It is. The connectors are common. :)

Have you replaced bulbs?

You mean we can change the A/C by replacing the Ex-Saloon A/C controller unit on the dashboard with the Super Saloon controller unit?
