I am new to autolanka.... bt thought will help me out a bit.. I am interested on the peugeot 406 coupe red car which was advertised on the hitadd paper... Its at the southland carsale in rajagiriya... He wants 2.25 for the car. Reg is 301-7xxx.

If any one know any abt this car please help me technically & with the price....

Thanx heaps bro... thought of doing a check up at car mart. How much do u think its worth ? i heard the yellow one was given for 2.5mil. (not sure)

This car sale is known for exorbitant asking prices. So try to do your research and negotiate it down. Its a classic to own though.

If you don't mind the dubious history, i'd say get it checked by car mart, and see it for about 2 (even less if possible). Might be worth a good restoration project.

It's not the blue one... i checked the car today. Nothing major. Jst the simple stuff here n there. bt they said even 2mil is a high price for that car. Any hw thanks for all the help given to me.... Thought of offering 1.8mil. Wht do u guys think ? i doubt he ll agree.

Personally I like the look of the facelifted sedan (for better or worse the coupe was not facelifted), but it's one of the more common euro cars on the road today so I don't know if it's "unique" enough for your taste. Of course either the 406 coupe or D9 sedan will stand out against the run of the mill Jap/Indian cars

The face-lifted cars got the EW engine series; I'm not sure if the coupe got the engine upgrade or still has the older XU series engine... spec wise there is not a huge difference (EW has incremental gains all round) but I presume that finding parts for the EW will be easier than for the XU (on the basis that there are much more facelifted cars than non-facelifted cars around).

Like RangeRover said, Southland is known for high prices; on the other hand, they deal with slow moving luxury cars so they have more money tied down in showroom and therefore their margins need to be higher. If you're heart is set on a coupe it's probably not worth waiting around till a private sellers puts one up for sale

For bargaining on the price, you could try saying you can get similar condition 406 2.0 Executive (all the bells and whistles) for ~1.8 and although a coupe is rarer it's also 2-3 years older, and so you are not willing to pay more than 1.8. Have no idea if it will work though, so don't blame me if he throws you out

His willingness to bargain may be influenced by how long he's had it sitting there
