Thanks! well aint no expert but 4wd cars are dead easy to ID if you dont have an issue bending down a bit if you can spot the rear diff at the back...it's a 4wd
0 Watchman
the easest way would be to look if it's got a rear diff Though not sure on if they have other external badges or anything Edited October 15, 2010 by Watchman

Thought extra stuff (like the rear diff) meant it costs more?

Hi Big D I don't know exact reason, people tend to claim that it is not much good in fuel and also less comfortable than 2WD, could be cost too always seen 4WD uses much larger tyre etc. thanks regards sumith Edited October 15, 2010 by Sumiya

Thats why it has a lesser re sale value. But a small car like the Swift is mainly bought as a economical drive than a 4WD. If its a small 4 WD Suzuki has the Jimny on offer, which is a great small off road vehicle.
0 heavyD
Oh yes, fuel economy... how could I forget? Btw, according to some sites, the difference between the 4wd and 2wd versions is about 15 - 40 kg. So... hmm, not such a huge margin. Traction and handling on the 4WD is far better than the FWD, and the tyre wear isn't higher than the FWD. Just that all four wheels tend to wear out evenly, with the fronts slightly more than the rear. Fuel economy, no noticeable difference. But from a standing start, the FWD is faster. For a clutch replacement, the 4WD cost 1,500 more than the FWD. most everything else is the same.
