fuzzo
for all you overclockers, here's a killer solution. Overclocking the most affordable dual core to 4.1GHz. THe price of the processor in the local market is around 13K. possibly cheaper now. http://www.tomshardware.com/2006/05/10/dual_41_ghz_cores/

CNET reports that Intel will announced that their upcoming Conroe desktop chips and Merom notebook chips will be released under the name Core 2 Duo, continuing the naming brand started earlier this year with the Core Duo. The Core 2 Duo will have model numbers to show its performance with the desktop having 4000 or 6000 and the notebook chips named either 5000 or 7000. The chips will also have letters that will indicate power usage. According to News.com, Core 2 Duos will bear either a preceding E for 55-75W power consumption or T for 25-55W. Desktop Core 2 Duos will follow with a 4xxx or 6xxx number, while mobile Core 2 Duos will sport 5xxx or 7xxx numbers. The desktop Core 2 Duo is due out in July while the notebook Core 2 Duo is due in August.

Though in retail they might be available only in Q1'2007. The following 65nm dual-core models are expected first: Athlon X2 64 4200+, 2.2GHz, 2x512KB L2 Athlon X2 64 4400+, 2.2GHz, 2x1MB L2 Athlon X2 64 4600+, 2.4GHz, 2x512KB L2 Athlon X2 64 4800+, 2.4GHz, 2x1MB L2 The company will continue to manufacture senior models, according to the 90nm process, at least until the beginning of the next year: Athlon X2 64 5000+, 2.6GHz, 2x512KB L2 Athlon X2 64 5200+, 2.6GHz, 2x1MB L2 Athlon X2 64 5400+, 2.8GHz, 2x512KB L2 Athlon FX 62. 2.8GHz, 2x1MB L2 The Brisbane core based 65nm novelties are expected to feature 42% better energy consumption. Already in H1'2007 AMD plans to move its dual-core CPUs to the mass market and to replace the single-core solutions (which are not to be moved to the 65nm process) in this segment by dual-core ones in H2. Note that Intel has nearly achieved this already by these days. Speaking of budget 65nm processors, codenamed Sparta, they are expected in the market in H2'2007
