Safest Way To Adjust Dizzy While Engine Runs

Hi,

I want to know the safest way to adjust the dizzy while the engine runs, because when once i tried to hold it from the dizzy cap i got shocked. i have seen some who do it by holding from the vacuum advance canister. But what bother me is high tension lines to plugs goes close that area.

Any suggestions ?

Or either you can have pair of rubber slipper and turn it from the distributor

it self without touching distributor cover

getting shocked while doing this.. first time i heard it.. cant you just lightly tap it with screwdriver and an assit..

dont loosen the nuts too much.. you can get an accruate timing by just tapping and checking the tacho..

+1- if you're getting shocked- there is something wrong with the car's electrical system. Maybe on the earth wiring. You'd be best advised to get it checked before trying to adjust the distributor
