Hi

Sorry I didn't see this earlier. The thermostat is located just below the input manifold in the driver side. If your fan is directly run by mains your fan relay is also probably overridden. This is mounted into the passenger side front fender. You can get an idea about the locations and the part numbers from the below link. They have the part catalog.

I bought the censor for around 4.5k from rainbow motors in panchikawatta.

Tell me if you need more info to rectify your problem.

Thank you very much for the reply.

I was able to find the fan relay. When I disconnect the wire harness frm the relay fan stops and when connect it works.I'm not 100% sure about the sensor.I found one just over the alternator with two wire connector clip(ash colour) and hoping that it is the one, disconnected the clip, but still the fan is running.

.

Do you have any idea about the situation?

.

what current does this sensor breaks(+ or -) ?

The problem probably is the relay is shorted get the fan working all the time. This is normally how our makabas guys do it. Thermostat plug clip is a 2 wire one and I think you have found the right one. To be sure check whether the clip matches the plug. Here's a link to an image of the plug.

thanks kumudug for the information.

I found that the thermostat sensor is working fine.I heated the engine and checked the wire harness of the sensor, when the engine is hot the sensor connects those two wires of the harness together making the current flow.further it is a Negative current which passes through the sensor.

but when i checked the relay,it is getting the current when you switch on the car(Dash lights on)and makes the fan works irrespective of the heat.I went through the wire harness(connecting to the relay) but could not locate any point where they have shorted those wires or any sort of alteration made.

I really could not understand this and thought of showing to a professional mechanic/repair center.

Pls tell me if there is any electrical repair center with talented mechanics you guys are aware....

.

I saw in a foreign auto forum that this fan issue may be something related in ECU and it can be simply rectified by connecting to a scan tool...Any comments on it...

.

Desperately need your information and advices...

.

kumudug if you can let me know how your wiring was altered and where it was would help a lot.

Many thanks

My wiring was altered near the relay and it was done simply by connecting the two wires together. If you don't see something like that I guess your issue is a bit complicated. Maybe the wiring was not altered at all and the issue is ECU related as you have mentioned.

By the way I don't have a OBDII port in my car just the mazda specific diagnostic port. I heard MagCity has it but not sure.

After rectifying the problem please keep us updated as it could be of help to us in the future.
