Accelerating Issue

Hi Mates,

I feel that the accelerator is not smooth of my Ek3. I drove one of my friends ek3, it has really smooth accelerator. Will it be an issue with the accelerator cable?

it can be a sticky throttle cable or even a dirt throttle body

hmm I thought it, but once oiled will it get again sticky after the dust is attached with the oil?

When was the last tune up done? What is the idle RPM?

A friends 2000 Ek3 VTi had this issue. Its the throttle plate that sticks. He had to clean it every few months due to dirt accumulation on the edges of the plate and giving it a bit of sticky feeling before opening up.

We oiled the cables and tried but in the end it was always the throttle plate. We later found out that the air intake had a small crack behind the filter and it was sucking in small amounts of dirt that sticks to the edge.

Had it replaced and the problems stopped.

EFI tunning has been done a few months back, Actually it is type ML, so it doesn't have a RPM meter in the dashboard.

My one is 96 ferio. So the technology is not the same right?
