Question About My Radio

Question

Posted

Hey guys,

I installed a no-name chinece tv/dvd/radio head unit in my tribute a month or so ago and got a question. The pox and manual say it's ipod compatitable and it has a mini-usb port. For some reason when I select usb on the screen it doesnt show me the songs on the guide. Just a serious of folders with a couple of numbers and letters. On the manual it said the ipod port was at the back. Had a look at it and theres a port but it has 8 pins and it didnt come with a cable to hook the ipod in the back. I was wondering if anyone has come across something like this and if you had any solutions. I know I could just use a 3.5mm cable into the aux port but I would like to see the songs and albums on the screen and also be able to charge the ipod since it never leaves the car.

are you sure the headunit has full ipod compatibility?

got a pioneer head unit that supports ipod in the truck...

They sell a cable that connects to the back of headunit and has a dock at the other end...

works like a charm without issues...

Also the display settings on the headunit controls whether to show mp3 tags or not...So maybe you gotta fiddle with that for it to show show names as opposed to folders and files etc...

I'm pretty sure it has the full compatibility. It also has an ipod icon on the screen. Tried everything but cant get anything other than the folders and files to show up. It seems that I need some kind of cable to go in the back. The manual doesn't contain anything at all besides the functions of the radio it does say ipod though. Damn I hate chinese manuals. Bought a deep fryer the other day which was chinese and the manual said "don't place near wooded due to fire insurance."
