Experts please comment which one is more safer, a Maruti 800 brand new or Susuki Every used 10 to 8 years? I have stuck between two selections. Thanks.

go for suzuki Every van it's more safe than maruti and good luck

Thanks for the reply.

Nexus, could you please explain why you think Susuki Every is safer as the Every has smaller front (hood/bonnet) than a Maruti 800's? Many thanks

the maruti is a safer option.. the every looks quite unstable for me.. but then again it also depends what u are going to do with these.. if its family outtings and getting to office.. maruti please.. dont even think about the every.. even visually u can see that the every is unstable.. its taller and has skinny wheels what does that tell u. u corner too hard.. and u are done for..

so in this situation.. i will go for the maruti..

If I were you, out of the 2 choices, I'd go with the Maruti. Given that there's more metal and what not between you and a hypothetical front end collision. But this doesn't hold if it were a side impact. I doubt it whether older Every's came standard with airbags?

Thanks. What if driver's and passenger's air bags were there in the Every (I have seen Every after 2002 come with air bags)? Still a Maruti 800 is better?

im talking about build quality Maruti 800 is based on 24 years old Suzuki Alto. safety technology of maruti 800 is outdated

clealey maruti has lager hood but in a side impact it's very fragile in a accident to a lager vehicle you have more chance survive in a every than maruti

p.s maruti build by cheap indian plastic and metal

Well, it's a known fact that airbags saves lives. But these are both very small vehicles, so the damage they sustain in a crash will be far greater comparatively to a larger vehicles. But you may have a point in the Maruti's design being much older. However you may still wanna be careful when buying a vehicle that's a lot older (in usage) than a brand new vehicle. If you end up buying one which has rusted up or has been in a previous crash and restored badly, it may turn out to be a nightmare in the event of a collision.

Thanks for your reply. "Big vehicles are safer" is a fact.

However, my current decision context is selecting one out of Maruti 800 and Suzuki Every (with air bags).

In your opinion which of these two is more safer? Thanks in advance.

If you care one single iota for the safety of you and yours, you'd not consider these sheet aluminium excuses for vehicles and take on even a 20 year old Jap and whatever headaches come with it. IMHO.

Suzuki Every with dual airbag all so has abs one of the major safety features in vehicle.

Regarding safety, maruti 800 is safer than motor bike and the tri-show.If you consider impact from front direction you are safer than in a suzuky every because you are behind the engine. If you want total safety in a suzuki every ,you have to wear another set of 8 air bags around your body because two air bags are not enough.

I'm not really sure of this whole 'engine is in front' scenario. If the vehicle isn't strong enough or doesn't have crumple zones, what's stopping the engine smashing through the firewall and crushing the occupants in the front?

Still you get some resistant in front when you have the engine bed and cross panels. I also think that maruti is better in safty for a frontel collisions.

That car has an engine in front too. But no matter what's in front, nothing's gonna save you if the car ain't safe.

Yes big what you said is right but when you compare with suzuki buddy van, there is nothing forward to protect you, If you have a frontel collision right a way your legs and lower body is effected. Two air bags probably give some protection to your chest and the face but what will happen to the lower body at a dirrecct impact?

In Maruti you get some resistant due to protrudence of the engine part .

What you're essentially saying here is that a car without airbags, with an engine in front is safer than a car with airbags, without an engine in front. So it's airbags vs. a front engine. I don't know what's safer, but airbags would be my take.

A low speed collision in the Every will deploy the airbags and might save you from any serious injury. A low speed collision in a Maruti might have you smashing you head on the steering/windscreen. I doubt either vehicle will survive an high speed collision. Either way, the air bags will probably save the most precious parts of your body, i.e. head and chest, whereas the Maruti will offer no protection at all.

Without crash testing them, no one has any way of being sure.

Seen relatively low speed accidents with 800s, once right in front of us in oncoming traffic. Speed around 30km/h I think, but the whole front part, engine included got crushed into big pile and lots of pieces on the road, just like in the link Big_D posted, but without wheels rising off the ground. Driver compartment visibly deformed a lot, the 2 people in it had got bad injuries. We once had an accident when a van came in the wrong lane of a bend while we were in a Sunny B12 and a speed of around 50, only the bumper and bonnet got slightly crushed but the engine and behind was safe, no one harmed. I can't comment on the Every but as Peri says, if it's safety you're concerned about, a well kept accident free Jap car for similar price should give you more peace of mind.

Just to barge into the discussion and add my 2 cents as this is something I've thought about myself recently since we're thinking about buying my sister a car.

I think both cars would have serious issues with a side ways collission (as most small cars do) and the Every in particular has a high center of gravity so it will probably topple, while the 800 has very thin doors (and I've never actually seen the insides of them to know is they have SIPS or not but I suppose it would)

The airbag, well they do save lives, but the front crumple zone in an Every is quite small so the danger is that the passenger compartment would be compromised. I mean this is a problem that all vehicles of this format have including bigger vans like Vanettes or even Hiace in a full frontal collision .

On the Maruti however you've got a little bit more of a crumple zone and the engine should be aligned and mounted in such a way that in a collision it will slide underneath the bulk head and not slam into the bulk head and into the passenger compartment.

At the rear what matters is the distance the passenger sits from end of of the vehicle (as that is the effective crumple zone you have in case of a rear collission)

So both have their problems when it comes to safety, and to be honest I wont be able to chose between them.

Just remember, the bigger the car, the more higher up it sits (this affects what bit of the vehicle is affected in a collission) and the heavier the vehicle the safer they tend to be. And everything else well is complimentary.

Thanks for the advice. "the heavier the vehicle the safer they tend to be" . So hope u are using a Tata bus or a "Gal Rolak" as your personal vehicle. :) :) :)

The statement is utterly correct, when the mass increases the force naturally increases but I wouldn't take any time explaining you anything further than than.

If I were you Don, I would be kicking myself for taking the time to make that post.

Hey be Cool!

This post was a testing post. I just wanted to identify who are supprting diffrent categories of vehicles.

After identifing their interests, I read their other post also by searching each of their names on the search box above.

Then I realised mnay of them have their own agendas. or few humans with diffrent usernames?

Many
