when inquired about the price, an attendant told me that IOC is now 1/- more. He did not mention about the quality even though it was "Extra Premium" 95

i guess it's a way to differentiate it to get a rupee more.

Went to Alexandra Road shed last week (after some time) and was quite surprised when the attendant told me that they only sold Extra Premium 95 and did not sell the regular 95 Octane any more. I had used IOC Extra Premium 90 before and it was not so hot..... so I decided not to try any more experiments and went to Flower Road and filled up instead.

Usually I plan my fill ups and pump petrol at Laughs sheds only....

Extra Premium = Normal Petrol + Ethanol + other additives

when ethanol burns it acts as a detergent cleaning interior engine parts. in other countries Acetone is also used to archive this.

I use Extra Premium because I notice the Following

1. My auto gear Toyota Vios up shifts Gears around the 2000 RPM level and more quickly to upper Gears (for normal petrol it is higher around 3000 rpm)

2. Increase in acceleration when accelerator is pressed suddenly (Ex:- When Overtaking)

3. Increase in Fuel Economy (might be due to shifting to higher gears more quickly and other Additives)

Note:- Ioc Extra Premium 95 will be the same standered 95 with additional additives.

Must try the New 95 Extra Premium one

How can a different type of fuel affect the tranny?

this is what I noticed with My Car. when moving forward from a stop the Gears tend to Upshift more quickly in IOC Premium.

most of the time in Normal Petrol the RPM increases rapidly (3000 rpm) but the Gear takes more time to Shift to the Upper one.

most of my friends have experience the same.
