  1. Many happy returns of the day!!
  2. Hey Miniace , many happy returns of the day!!
  3. Hey Grand Civic Just saw the post….. it’s always better late than never…… happy B’day
  4. There was a very low key launch on Saturday with the presence of the media. As of today 38 units sold and advances taken. 17 are on the road already and the rest will be delivered in March. Specs remain the same as before with the 3.0L and 3.8L petrol.
  5. Hey, thanks for your post….. On a different note, let me correct you on the issuance of the local racing license. You don’t need a previous mass start race experience to obtain this. SLAS has categorized the license into 3 categories. i.e Novice, Intermediate and National. Hence if you are a beginner, you start with a Novice license and then upgraded as time goes by. With the Novice license, there are restrictions to participate in the Super Car event and for the rest there is no written rule limiting the participation Once you have one mass start experience as a novice, SLAS will allow you to compete in the Super Car event, but that does not mean you will be issued with a National status racing license, There are about 4 rallies for a year with at least one of them on tarmac and yes, there is a National Rally Championship which is awarded to the overall rally champion and also further trophies for the respective classes.
  6. Let me add something for what you said. You are absolutely right about what you said on Group N regs, but however this event was scrapped with effect from 31-12-2006 and instead a new class was introduced as SL-H upto 3500cc which incidentally gives room for more modifications over the earlier Group N. However even for SL-H class the internals of the engine should remain as per manufacturer specifications. As for Group “A” (now referred as SL-GT upto 3500cc) in this case I am referring only to the Super Car event, you are right about the displacement to be limited at 3500cc (in the case of turbo cars the displacement will be multiplied by 1.7 inorder to arrive at the final capacity i.e. 2000cc turbo X 1.7 = 3400cc) However the above is not the only limitation as of 2007 regulations. Following are the rest which we have to adhere to from SLARDAR Katu to be worked out over the week-end. 01) Standard turbo as per manufacturer spec. 02) Standard intake and exhaust manifolds 03) Standard doors and bonnet (door panels could be removed) 04) Fuel is restricted to CPC or IOC and no additives are permitted (Max. is Av. Gas) 05) NOS is banned with effect from 01-01-2007 Rest of the modifications are free, provided the car is race worthy and in the Super Car event (SL-GT and SL-H) and all other modified events are classified according to the displacement and rest classes on power to weight or one make series. As for the FIA regulations, unfortunately we do not follow them yet, but instead have our own set of regulations setout by SLAS and that is why you will see the word “SL” before every class. We did have FIA regulations for 2 years (2005/6) but it was scrapped by SLAS and may be it will be re-introduced in time to come.
  7. Hey guys,. thanks for the belated wishes… it’s always better late than never
  8. Hey, thanks for all of you who wished for my birthday and also for the 2007 season. Darin, you are expecting too much from me and for you Grand Civic I am sure you know how old I am
  9. Yes you are right about your prediction. The meet is postponed due to bad weather. The new date as of now is not known. However there are no dates before SLARDAR Katu which is scheduled for the 11th of Feb. As such Tissa will be towards the end of Feb / early March. Also the event will be conducted by SLAS and not SMSC.
  10. Absolutely wonderful result Dilantha and all of us are very proud of your achievement.
  11. Best wishes and happy birthday Peri!!
  12. Thank you for all you guys Madz, Fuzzo, Pilawoos, Miniace, Sharkster, Grand Civic, Velocity, Ferrarif50, Dragster, Pericles, Dilesh and Overdrive for your posts. The victory is more enjoyed as the recovery in just 11 days (30th Oct to 10th Nov) after a major crash at Gajaba was truly a good feeling. I salute my team lead by Saman who put my race car back on its wheels in perfect condition. I owe him a big thank you for the tireless hours and days of extreme hard work he put in for the Evo IX GT. A pic of this wonder man is below and for sure you will see him with me at every race. Thank you Saman!
  13. Thanks Pericles but the credit goes to you as the avatar is taken off the pics you took of the GT. Hope to see you at Katu over the week-end.
  14. Thank you, all you guys (Charith, Miniace, Evilmak, KLM, Dilesh, Velocity, GihanFX & Sharkster) for the encouraging posts. Evo IX GT would be ready for Katu on the 12th as I have all the body panels and other spares in hand. Indeed Katu would be interesting as the C’ship is wide open among 4 drivers and the person who wins the races at Katu takes it all!! Dilesh, as for the Evo VIII RS, I sold it at the beginning of this year and it is a road car now and painted with Gunmetal Grey (identical colour of the FQ series). So I have just the Evo IX GT.
  15. I too feel sad about the car, but I guess that risk is always there when you race with limited visibility. However it's been fixed now and I will run Katu next week-end!
  16. Gajaba Super Cross scheduled to be held on the 20th Sunday is postponed indefinitely due current situation in the country.
  17. If any of you are passing the Orugodawatte junction on Base Line road, the Laugfs Station there has ample fuel including 95 octane and there is absolutely no queue.
  18. Fuzzo / Overdrive With reference to scrutinizing what KLM said is correct. As for the brakes “my opinion” is that Brembo is better than AP Racing. It is not that coz I use them, but that is what I was recommended by Ralliart Europe and also by my tuner in Australia and I do agree with them. I have used Brembo titanium 8 pot brakes in my earlier race car (Evo VIII RS) and the latest from Brembo is the aluminium Mono Block brakes which are really good. Moreover AP Racing is fully owned by Brembo ( http://www.brembo.com/ENG/AboutBrembo/Inve...mpanyStructure/ ) The market leader and in terms of technology, Brembo is ahead of AP Racing. Usually the Brembo brakes could be identified in the following manner: Red/Yellow calipers are for road cars Black calipers are for SUVs Mat Gold calipers are for race cars
  19. Make: Mini 800cc Year: 1972 Price: LKR 42,000 in 1988 Really wanted to own a car and above is what I could afford. It was in the garage more than on the road
  20. PreveenYes you are correct. There is no Super Car event. I was there at the venue last Sunday morning with the GT, and it is within a very small area with cones scattered all over and from start to finish it is in 1st gear. The corners are very tight and as Evos are full time 4WD the turning radius us rather wide. Hand brake turn…now that is rather difficult when you are in 1st gear all the time in max revs on tarmac….and also to avoid hitting the cones… On the other hand I also took the Kelisa and for my surprise it was 3 seconds faster than the GT as it has no 4WD, weighs just 750kgs and with road tyres hand brake turns are so easy….more over it turns into sharp corners without any hassle. So there is one track in SL that 1000cc non turbo 3 cylinder car is faster than a 2000cc modified turbo car! Down side of the Kelisa….AMRC is insisting roll cage ….and I don’t want to fix one to my road car… AMRC is helpless in this regard as they want the meet to be recognized by SLAS and in such case roll cage and racing licenses are compulsory.
  21. Dilesh Count me in and make it 2 votes for Mitsu. The way I see Mitsubishi is performance with reliability along with a good power to weight ratio.
  22. Yes, it does 19-20km per liter Colombo running but for the manual gear version. :D For the auto I think it is around 15-16km. I guess because it is a 3 cylinder engine. Outstation it does 24-25km per liter (manual). Have done 50,000km and now Colombo running has dropped to around 17km (manual)
  23. Evo 9 GT any day!! Nope…no way….Evo 9 GT or will just drive a Kelisa!!
  24. Dilesh Pajero Evo sold to Gamini Nelson which he is still racing Evo 4 RS sold to Reyaz Farook which he is still racing on gravel tracks Red Evo 7 GSR sold to Francis Noranha which is still owned by him White Evo 7 RS sold to Reyaz Farook which he is still racing on tarmac Yellow Evo 8 GSR sold to Gayan Guruge which is still owned by him White Evo 8 RS is still with me (what I raced 2003-4 seasons) now in standard trim
