  1. I get 1MB/s + on my 8Mbps connection. Lowering the MTU to 1430 makes a huge difference.
  2. Very nice cars IMO, especially the very last (face lift) Super Saloons. But do make a move now, the prices are creeping up.
  3. If it's a Carina MyRoad, it's safe to assume its a JDM. Just browse the the JDM sites to figure out what engine the 1.8 liter version used.
  4. +1 RBR are fast becoming the new Benetton F1. <rant> and yeah, while I don't like Alonso, it was a shame his race ended the way it did. And I couldn't understand what McLaren were aiming for this time. It was clear that Hami was happy with the car, and the radio convos all pointed to them wanting him where he was. I think maybe they wanted Button to get a podium place again? I was really hoping for that, but I suppose Kobayashi did deserve his 15 minutes of fame. </rant>
  5. I was looking around some of the US forums, and it seems that mounting the number plates anywhere other than the stock mounting position is illegal. This maybe the case here as well. So if your car came with an offset mount position from the factory, you're good, but if you've moved it to a side to make room for an intercooler or something then you might have an issue with the cops. This is just speculation of course.
  6. Interesting, this is the first time I'm hearing of it. I wonder what happens to cars which have offset license plate mounting positions. Alfas come to mind straight off the bat.
  7. No adjustable sensitivity, the cheaper ones are more sensitive because rather than cause fires the manufacturers err on the safe side and cause them to trip earlier. The mindset is that very rarely would these ever be pushed to their stated operational limit. We use Federal Electric breakers in all the sub panels, and the main 3 phase breaker is a Merlin Gerin. I say get yourself a proven, reliable brand and save yourself the headache of sorting out avoidable electrical issues.
  8. have you ever operated an electric welding plant?? kindly stop spewing out crap you find on google.
  9. Dude, where did you find the 3M sticky stuff from? I've never been able to locate it here in SL, had to get it down through ebay.
  10. "machan umba gawa tickets nathda?" (ad nauseum)

  11. I think it's a prerequisite of the bank for the vehicle to be unreg'd. His company merely foots the monthly payment. At least that's how it normally works.
  12. We use a second phase for the garage and other heavy duty electrics in the house, both phases have a main breaker each, and then hook up to a big ass 30A 3 phase breaker. I'm not sure what amperage breaker is hooked up to the garage outlet, I think it might be a 20A. I'll update this post once I confirm it this evening. Update: Garage outlet is on a 20A breaker while the main breaker on the panel is a 40A.
  13. I would say go for a 504. All the Cortinas have rotted away.
  14. Thadi shock only if you earth yourself somehow. You will however feel the current flow through you, but you should be able to handle it (I can't, I'm shit scared of electrocution). And yeah, it should run fine from the 15A plug. The other thing might be that the ELCB you're using might be a little iffy. We had to replace one in our house because it became too sensitive and would trip at the slightest provocation.
  15. All I know about the car (from having looked at an example while I was car hunting) is that it's basically an upmarket N16. Chrome door handles on the inside, wooden trim all around (even the rear), climate control, bigger engine option, power seats, popup display for navigation (useless in this country), and different exterior trim. There was a nice blue KH example for sale at the same time I bought my Vios, and every so often I find myself wondering what if I had gone and looked at the blue Sylphy instead...
  16. Schumi is having depth perception issues like Jayasuriya and needs specs. *rim shot*.
  17. if you really are a lecturer, then judging by the quality of your posts on this forum thus far and considering you a prime example of the academia elite in SL (as per your own implication in post #21), I can see why FUTA chose now to have a cow.
  18. good for you. now kindly refrain from waking up old threads simply to state the obvious.
  19. We have a 400A stick welder which we use out of the garage socket. We normally use it between 250 and 300, but once I cranked it to 11 400 and blew the transformer. I believe there's no need to upgrade your wiring, ours works fine out of a 15A plug. The calculations in post #2 are off since the voltage coming out of the unit is ~50v-80v, not 220v-230v. I think you might have an earth leak with your independent earth setup.
  20. Not our fault if you don't like our ideas ne? I mean you _did_ ask for them.
  21. +1 I thought I was the only one facing that situation.
  22. Forcing the belt onto the pulleys (using a lever) would damage it, which is why there is an idler or tensioner pulley.
  23. Is this you? I photographed this back in 2009 I think.
  24. Just FYI; I saw this morning a Micro Panda with a hole in it's bonnet. Yes, a _hole_. The guy had taped a poly bag over it, but the hole was clearly visible, just a large chunk missing from the inside of the lower right quadrant when viewing from the front.
