  1. Heard a loud V8 roar as I was getting into my car at Cargills Rajagiriya, around 11:40ish. Pretty sure it was the mustankiya.

I was trying to squeeze my fat ass into the car, didn't get a chance to look at it. Don't remember hearing the supercharger whine, so maybe the old one.

  2. I concur, it will only be a matter of time before we find exactly how much of a death trap the Nano really is.
  3. Are you sure it wasn't after a small drinkypoo with mates when everything felt faster stronger and better?
  4. Slightly OT, but machan Schiffer, can you tell us what caused his broken arm? Was it the seat belt, or airbag (assuming that he's a CEO, he must be driving posh new car), or something else?
  5. Which stretches machan? I've only been up to Gelanigama and the road was smooth all the way.
  6. And also how it would apply to Hybrid Cars, especially the Prius.
  7. Removing the thermostat is a common practice with vans, especially Hiaces.
  8. I applaud you in attempting to restore what is a Legendary car back to it's former glory. Modifying a CRX is blasphemy.
  9. There's an advert in AL for a three wheeled vehicle carrying a plate with the KZ- prefix. Has the K series been divided into further subsets or has the 30K in advance rule been relaxed?
  10. It was a convertible, and I'm pretty sure I saw the BMW emblem on the boot lid. The car appeared to be too large for a 3 series, and the rear light clusters looked very similar to what google has of the 2011 6 series. But of course I could be wrong since visibility wasn't optimal as it was dark and raining and like Buddhika's 'nona' said "ko light nahane".
  11. Good scene, I was going to buy a set of metal caps with the toyota logo. I guess I'll opt for plastic ones.
  12. I thought the latest trend was day time running lights.
  13. If you do get new alloys, I suggest you keep the originals. When you're ready to sell the car, the alloys will give the car that much more value since its original equipment.
  14. Excellent summarization. If the engines were in fact designed to be run stationary, they would have an engine hours meter, like the Mercedes Unimog.
  15. If you like that video, you will love this one.
  16. True its long, it gives me time to clear my head, which is the main reason why I take these drives in the first place. Also I pass the HSBC, KFC and the Pelawatta shed on the way which is convenient; pull some money out, buy two portions of fries and a drink, pump 1000 in petrol, and I'm off.
  17. And what about the Top Gear automobile vs Huskies polar challenge. But that time they didn't mention the vehicles by name I think.
  18. At around 3:35 Jezza, quite unscientifically, demonstrates why proper airflow is important to cooling an engine. And also why you shouldn't drive in reverse for extended periods of time. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vns-9sqxmCw&feature=related
  19. My feet are on my coffee table right now, I assure you. And I did imagine driving over a crest and rear ending a large white SUV. Not pretty. But since there was neither a hill nor a large white SUV parked in the shoulder on the stretch I conducted my test on, I had nothing to worry about. And thank you for caring for about my well being and that of any potential victim in your hypothsis. I am touched.
  20. And you ended up burning yourself while I... well nothing happened to me.
  21. Machan I drove on the shoulder just to gauge the clearance, in some places its so narrow two wheels are still beyond the white line. But I believe this will be a non issue as the overtaking lane is not to be occupied, and drivers will (hopefully) for the most part simply move into that lane to avoid disabled cars.
  22. That other site is mostly full of morons, so take whatever they say with a grain of salt and then some. I traveled down the highway today for a factory visit in Horana, and the experience was over all too quickly, since I had to get off at Galanigama exit. But even then, I shaved off at least an hour of travel time (usually would have taken the Galle road instead), and a full 25kms 15kms_each way_. I only spent 10 minutes on the highway, travelling close to 120, but eased off to a hair under 100 when I saw the fuzz (twice). Coming home was even more pleasant, having left at 5:00pm, I was at home by 7:30. And that was after having stopped at the Kottawa Pizza Hut to dine in, and them having mucked up my order. The lack of the frustrating galle road traffic, numb right leg and extreme urge to beat a cyclist's head in with his own helmet is fully worth the 300 bucks I spent at the toll booths. P.S. I forgot to add that every single driver I saw on the road adhered to the rules, driving in the left hand lane only, even the vans. The only exception was a 2011 red 6 series convertible that whizzed past at roughly around 140-150.
  23. As much as people bash the nano, I'm kind of taken by the looks of the "full option" models with the body coloured plastics and rear spoiler. Do D*MO allow test drives?
  24. The manual states to maintain a reasonably safe speed during inclement weather. But I wonder if anyone will bother to read the manual in it's entirety. 99% of the people don't remember whats in the traffic rules booklet.
