  1. good idea. i should powder coat the callipers
  2. done! nice one mate!
  3. are you just repairing the wheels or changing the colour?
  4. as i said earlier i didnt mean it literally. my point is sticking to just mechancs based chit chat is just boring. i mean how would you feel when u log into the forum to realise that the only thing you can talk about is why someones engine is losing compression? well we could i suppose to a certain extent. but its not the slightest bit entertaining (ok maybe there's the satisfaction of helping out someone). but there are some of us like me who post on regular basis. we don't do it just to help out a person with his car. but also a bit of automotive based entertainment. and i doubt if the forum was all serious and we always spoke about car related issues, well we could, but we'd probably go mental. and i doubt half the people would log in on day to day basis. and if u didnt get my joke. what i meant was german are very technical got no sense of humour and they could talk about boring topics forever. and if your life isnt limited to just cars and mechanical bits that means you do have a life yes i agree. for anybody who was in some way offended here's my apologies. no offence but sometimes some jokes don't go down really well in well sl. and its completely my fault. again! my joke has gone too far. i didnt mean you are jobless in any way. in fact i wasnt hinting at the team in anyways. i was just refering to people like me who log on sometimes on hourly basis. cos its their opportunity to have a go at being a mod i appreciate you service mate. and i'm sorry if you misunderstood mate. i'll think twice next time before i post such a comment
  5. i didnt mean any of that literally. all i'm saying is going OT doesnt harm anybody as long as whats in the topic is discussed reasonably well. and i wouldnt mind if we are given strict orders to stick to the topic. its just the forum would turn out to be quite dull and if someone feels the urge to ignore me i don't mind. after all i've been in this forum for only 3 months and i'm probably among the youngest if thats got anything to do with this
  6. Hello lads. I was wondering how people fix their kerbed, scratched or chipped alloys in sl. my wheels are somewhat damaged as well. and all this time i was ignoring it cos i didnt know there was much to do about them. but then i came across some alloy wheel repair kits. i can do all 4 wheels with one pack and thats £12. and its diy as well. is this worth it or should follow the other routine that is getting your painter to primer them and give them nice shiny coat of paint? my only worry is that how we are going to source the right paint for the wheel. cos i've had way too many bad experiences with badly matched paint. also what sort of paint do you guys use when painting you brake callipers. i did mine with normal automotive paint once. it came out ok but now i want them in red with an even shinier finish. some people recommended hammerite and others said i should go with high temp paint (which is damn expensive). any ideas on this subject? Many thanks.
  7. very unprofessional indeed. anyways this was my idea of an april fools joke. not so brilliant. and not that professional either (especially with the number plate of the van next to it) the idea was to show it to a few people who adore my car and tell them my sister rolled it or something. sadly i was too busy to get hold of them
  8. i stand corrected but i find it interesting just cos it was designed to be as cheap as possible. and its kinda sad to see people considering it as car thats just cheaper than a maruti and not as the design revolution it really is. however that said i just noticed something that'll make me take extra care when i'm sharing the road with a nano. IT DOESN'T HAVE A SIDE MIRROR ON THE LEFT HAND SIDE now we cant even undertake them with much assurance when they are hogging the fast lane. (which they definitely will do)
  9. rite! at this point i really wanted to say "all the jobless people please form an orderly queue". but since its the OT topic i'm glad i didnt say that
  10. nope. just a lot of free time to make thorough observations what was it about?
  11. pulsar n1 FTW! i'm sure peri will agree with me.
  12. i dont know about you. but when someone mentions the word fashion statement in sl few of the things that pop into my head are bright orange shirts, straightened bob cuts on men, bright yellow flip flops, camouflage troussers, track bottoms and flared jeans. i think over a maruti the tata nano would fit into their lifestyles rather well
  13. yes its quite annoying when you are going through a forum to realise its completely OT. but then again jokes aside this forum has a good mix of members with wide spread of knowledge of almost everything thats been discussed. try going to some forum about citroen saxos or ford fiestas and see how they fare against us. and its hardly ever that the topic starter leaves without the answers they needed. mostly i'm glad nobody takes themselves too seriously no matter how much they know. i'm guessing those who complain that the members of a forum should never go OT are clearly the types who buy autocar weekly or prefer fifth gear over topgear. i'm not saying they should p*** off but the others members should know just where the limits are. and for those who still can't take it can either go join a german automotive forum or get a life
  14. ghey! nevertheless i wonder if the 1 box design will quite catch on. cos its easier to sell ice to eskimos than flog a radical car to the sri lankans. the A classe never caught on, the vitz never enjoyed the sales success of its predecessor the starlet, and the smart-esque micro was sold in a few dozens. now its the turn of the nano. i guess only time will tell
  15. yea that too! (damn ugg boots) actually the sign on that building says w1
  16. the funny bit is this was in west london. now what on earth possessed them to do that?
  17. he thinks cars pollute and by driving green cars the weather will stay sunny
  18. why???
  19. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=369h-SEBXd8...player_embedded shall we build one of these?
  20. first of all how much does the maruti retail at? secondly i never understood the mentality of people who buy marutis brand new (mainly cos at that price range they can buy a 2nd hand japanese car) and cos i'd rather let the 1st owner take the initial hit of depreciation thanks very much.
  21. silver can post next. my brains are on vacation atm
  22. they'll surely be hard hit. but isnt this supposed to be cheaper than a maruti? or is it because the demand is high?
  23. guys i just read on another forum the price is going to be 800k. if thats right (which i believe it is, thanks to our 350% taxes) i'm struggling to figure out where the car fits in. basically its going to be just a fashion statement at the moment. cos its a car the whole worlds been raving on about and its a fresh design apart from the micro and the smart. but what i'm more concerned about here is how long will that novelty last. and would the sort of people who buy marutis brand new *cough*berk*cough* will switch to a glorified motorcycle of a car.
  24. if your budget is around 8 mil the montero is the best option. cos for that sort of money you could find a decent 2000-2002 diesel. and the prado at that time is old and dated. however if you can mess about with that budget a bit more lc120 is a better car cos its a newer model and its packed with better technology. the pick of the range is the 4.0 v6 for me. though that will require quite a few more millions. and it'll cost you 14k rupees to brim the tank. however i always had a soft spot for the lc100. and its the roomiest most comfortable and probably the best offroader. however this is the oldest of the lot and a one of 65 plates would be quite used up.
